To celebrate our 200th release, El Maestro returns to the label with Soundexile for three huge originals, including one with talented singer Paula OS.

Hernan needs little introduction. A local legend by the time Paul Oakenfold discovered him in the '90s, his smooth, deep style has seen him play all over the world headlining festivals and clubs and helm one of the biggest progressive house labels releasing today. 

Argentinian duo, Soundexile, have been a force in the scene for over a decade. Their partnership with Hernan constantly pushes their musical boundaries, and includes 3 compilations for Renaissance, 2 for Balance, and dozens of original tracks and remixes.

Opening with 'Polymath', sparse drums make way for airy pads and a squelchy bass that drives the track. Arps and hooks flutter around the main motifs adding drama and energy throughout. Next up, 'Futurity' takes a deeper, darker path. Skippy hats and soundscape pads carve out a melodic mind map for the senses. Pure progressive heaven. Finally, Paula OS joins the trio on 'River Flow'. Haunting and joyous, her vocals are the perfect foil for the percussive broken beat framework and 8-bit keys.

Berlin-based Budakid makes his third appearance on Watergate Records, this time bringing in fellow Dutch native, regular collaborator and label newcomer Nordfold. 

Since dropping an EP alongside Watergate mainstay Matthias Meyer last autumn, Budakid has continued bolstering his reputation as a sought-after producer, stacking his discography with more releases on prominent labels such as Lost & Found, Disco Halal and Knee Deep In Sound. Kicking off his productive partnership with rising artist Nordfold a couple of years ago, together they’ve made an impact with searing collaborations on top notch labels. 

The pair’s debut with the Watergate crew kicks off spectacularly with ‘United’, a dreamy offering that delivers on atmosphere with swirling pads, ascendant chords and a sky-reaching melody. ‘Aika’ offers a deeper insight into their musical union, showcasing their deftness in crafting propulsive and pacier dancefloor heat.

For the first Ep of the label, ANMA offers us melodic and rhythmic mixes while remaining in a powerful and progressive style of its own. Composed of 3 pieces with different sound colours and 2 remixes by Olffman and French In Berlin, the influence of the styles extends far beyond the borders.

"That Space" transports you as much in its complexity as in the enhancement of the rhythmic use of synthesizers and percussion. Each piece brings a value and will find its place in your techno and deep set.

ANMA (soul in Occitan) is an artist in love with underground techno sounds. Guitarist and pianist since his early childhood, he is today one of the co-founders of the HOVER MIND label, but he also produces on different labels. He is part of the ARRIVAL duo with FIB, a well-known artist on the techno scene. Accustomed to the stage, his music and inspirations come from the world and his feelings, he likes to immerse himself in a dark, underground and soaring universe.
