London-based duo TMPLE release ‘Eyes On Me’ via Damian Lazarus’ Rebellion, with remixes from Made By  Pete and Cristina Lazic.  

Musicians, producers and childhood friends Charlie Jordan and James Fitz-Gibbon have honed their talents within  the studio over the past two years, shaping their deep and melodic sound palette as electronic duo TMPLE.  Featuring twice on Hot Since 82’s album ‘Recovery’ alongside material via Circus and Moon Harbour, the pair have  gained support from artists such as Jamie Jones, Christian Nielsen and Damian Lazarus - with the Rebellion boss  welcoming them for their label debut’ Eyes On Me’, featuring remixes from Crosstown regular Made By Pete and  fellow Rebellion talent Cristina Lazic. 

“‘Eyes On Me’ was a track made for the dancefloor. It started with the bassline and drums, but we wanted  to give the track some real personality, something that would capture the audience’s attention. That’s  when we added the synth line on the prophet. Once the vocals were in, it came together in only a few  hours. Months later, we were sent a video of Damian playing it out in Tulum b2b with Jamie Jones at Day Zero  festival. The track was always intended to be played by DJs like Damian and Jamie in these environments,  so seeing that clip and the reaction and then for Damian to reach out wanting to sign the record was a  great feeling.” - TMPLE.  

Blooming synths, organic drums and Fitz-Gibbons’ striking vocals take hold of ‘Eyes On Me’ as the pair deliver a  trip through resonant soundscapes and bright melodies to showcase a hypnotic production. Made By Pete’s remix  comes next, taking up a slightly moodier aesthetic guided by sweeping sonics, before Cristina Lazic’s take builds  on an infectious groove to inject new energy for late-night hours.

2015 saw Damian Lazarus create his most ambitious project to date in The Ancient Moons, producing a full length album ‘Message From The Other Side’ with a wide assortment of vocalists and collaborators from around the world. They went on to support Roisin Murphy on tour, gain acclaim from the likes of Dazed & Confused and Lazarus became the final coverstar of the year in the UK”s Mixmag magazine.

Now the tracks from ‘The Other Side’ have been reinterpreted by an assortment of stars, from techno stalwarts Juan Atkins & Kimyon Huggins, to German experimental talent Kölsch, and Acid Pauli’s sprawling fusion of weirdness. The original material is ploughed in new and surprising directions by Black Butter’s own Gorgon City and Mehmet Asian, resident at Berlin’s infamous Wilde Renate club.

Talent from Lazarus’ label Crosstown Rebels, including Francesca Lombardo, DrumTalk and Israeli trio Red Axes also produce their own visions for the music, all of which retain the mysticism of the original with added dancefloor appeal. The final four tracks revisit some of the biggest moments from the Moons to date, as the album revisits interpretations from Jamie Jones, Dixon, Serge Devant and &Me.

Co-produced by James Ford (Simian Mobile Disco, Arctic Monkeys, Florence & The Machine), The Ancient Moons was always a unique project, which has now been stretched to include the flavours of some of the most exciting artists shaping the musical landscape right now.

Recorded in Mexico, LA and London, ‘The Other Side’ features instrumentalists from Mozambique, Guinea, Pakistan, Egypt, America and even Mexico’s own Yucatan Symphony Orchestra.
