Lives and works in Osaka, Japan DJ for about 25 years. Previous genres. RAVE, NU-NRG, Trance, ACID Techno, Hard House, Techno, Hard Dance, Tech Dance, Hard Style, etc. In 2021, met gizm0x, makers of the TB-303 clone, and moved on to PEAKTIME / DRIVING TECHNO, MELODIC TECHNO, and HARD TECHNO.

In the 1990s, influenced by RAVE, he started going to clubs. Influenced by the music and performance of YOJI BIOMEHANIKA, who he met there, he became a fan. From there, he became seriously into dance music and started DJing at clubs in the late 1990s. In the early 2000s, he also experienced event staff. In 2021, became a resident DJ at Profoundradio.com in the UK.

BSV: Hello there and thanks for the submission! How did you find us? Google of your “Resilient” track maybe? 😉
ES.KA: I know your channel for a long time since we are supporting each other and l thought it would be a great opportunity to promote new project “Above Us“ 🙂

BSV: From progressive to melodic techno, from dark to hard techno. What’s your range in electronic music?
ES.KA: For my single project it’s something between melodic techno and peak time techno. Above Us aims for a more melodic and deeper sound like I used to play some years ago.

BSV: If we listen your production, it translates into “Eyes Wide Shut” feeling (sounds from the movie). That was your goal?
ES.KA: /

BSV: Tell us something about Illusions @ Haus33. What’s the concept?
ES.KA: Illusions is a melodic techno / peak time techno event which distinguish itself from other events at Haus33 by sticking to slower styles of techno instead of playing mostly hard techno like other events do.  

BSV: We found the info on Beatport about your first ever track (2021). How did you get in electronic music? When was that?
ES.KA: I started DJing 6 years ago in melodic and deep techno genre. In 2021 I decided that I want to make my own music which I can perform in clubs.

BSV: What’s behind your DJ duo artist name (meaning)?
ES.KA: It conveys the meaning that the music is always above us. We found that it has a good sound to it and we we're aiming for a two word name.

BSV: Is there maybe some interesting story about how you guys decided to do music together? Let us know about your long term goals…
ES.KA: The funny thing is that we know each other since we were kids. Didn't have contact at all for about 25 years and figured out that we are both into electronic music. Each of us in own project. So we decided to create something together. Long term goals would be getting in touch and getting collabs with more established artists and playing more shows.

Ma bio :
Emmanuel Hofmann bled over his guitar from a very young age trying to imitate his idols. Little by little his own voice began to emerge. Under the pseudonym la6gal (la cigale) he composed reggae, rock and pop songs and then with some friends he joined the Skeud Diffusion Project.

His electronic music revelation happened in 2010 after experiencing magical moments at music festivals. This is when he created the Unjam Emery duo with his childhood friend Jeremy Calame to produce organic and melodic deep- house.

Today Manu produces music during his long and distant travels in his RV at sunrise while looking out over valleys, mountains, the ocean or a desert under the name Hofmann (CH).
“My music is my decompression valve, my place where my imagination and my values are expressed without inhibition, this frees me from the world and intrinsically binds me to it.

I vibrate for the organic, the tribal, the breath of the bass and bewitching atmospheres.
Barefoot in the sand, when the tribe is set in motion, everything is love.”
