Original track: "Ornstein & Smough" composed by Motoi Sakuraba for the 2011 video game Dark Souls.

I think this is the most challenging fan arrangement I've made to date. It was really hard for me to pick out the instruments from the explosively bombastic orchestral segments, and I had to discard multiple attempts at creating the intro (and many attempts at the rest of the piece, too).

Just transcribing the instruments as-is from the original did not sound good at all. I quickly realised I would have to lean on chiptune-specific arrangement techniques just to even BEGIN to approach capturing the feel of the original, literal notes be damned.

As such, this is not a "faithful", 1:1 recreation of the original. Within my personally imposed 4-channel constraint, there just isn't room for all of the voices. Well, there could be if I aggressively arpeggiated everything, but I'm not convinced that would be enjoyable to listen to.
