A new DJ Mix for 2010.  All Techno and almost all Detroit Techno.  This mix has a lot of long blends and is full of energy.  One of the favorites that I have ever done and is definitely the hardest mix I have ever put down on tape.

In 2018 he received the "TESTIMONIAL RESOLUTION PLAQUE" from the City Of Detroit for his contributions in bringing the sound of Detroit to an international audience.
His music has been played by many world class DJ's such as: Gene Farris, DJ Bone, Laurent Garnier, Richie Hawtin, Kevin Saunderson, Kenny Larkin, Stacey Pullen, and many more! 
He started is label ‘Hijacked Records Detroit’ in  and recent years have seen him spreading the love with multiple releases and remixes on Restructured Recordings, KMS Records, Motech, Sampled Detroit, too name but a few.

For the 2nd edition of our FUSE series we bring you a true Detroit veteran, none other than DJ T-1000 aka Alan Oldham. Detroit-born, Berlin-based, Alan has been called "Detroit Techno's Renaissance Man" by many. Electronic musician, label owner, remixer, graphic illustrator, and international DJ, Oldham-under his stage name DJ T-1000-does it all. Heavily involved with the reputable Djax-Up-Beats label, where his music took center stage for many years, Oldham found himself under the tutelage of UR's Mad Mike Banks. Initially hired as UR's "Minister of Information", working side-by-side with Robert Hood and others in the office, Oldham was eventually tapped to replace his departing friend Jeff Mills as DJ on UR's World tour (quitting WDET in the process), and DJ T-1000 (and his label Generator, distributed by Submerge) was born. Big shoes to fill, but he was up to the task. For a year afterwards, Oldham toured with Banks in the UR Techno boot camp. Since those long-ago days, a solo Oldham continues to smash crowds in Berlin (with a residency at Tresor), Milan, Barcelona (residency at Moog), Madrid, London, Tel Aviv, Tokyo and all points in between with his own no-nonsense brand of bangin', "funky-ass" Techno. When DJ T-1000 is on the lineup, everyone knows he's bringing the ruckus.

In 2019 we were honoured to bring Alan to our 16 hour bezerkathon at FOLD where we witnessed one of the truly special moments of the history of Natural Selection. We are so grateful to Alan for blessing us with this high-energy DJ set, recorded exclusively for Natural Selection.

Born and raised in a town called Baia Mare, in the mystical land of Transylvania, part of today's Romania, he first became dazzled by electronic music in the early 90s.  After a few years of his own musical exploration, he began DJing for a local radio show, which was dedicated to showcasing the best electronic music he could get his hands on.  That's where he played with two decks and a mixer for the first time.  Soon thereafter he was granted several placements in the clubs and festivals in his birth country, and he also began producing music, under the moniker Morris Newtone.

It wouldn't be a stretch to credit Marivs - then Morris Newtone - and his DJ buddies A.L.C.A., Delph Meer and Keed, with instituting the techno scene in his hometown in Romania.  At that time Marivs held a residency at one of the dance clubs in Baia Mare, wherein he was given enough free rein on the music he selected that he was able to truly demonstrate to his town what he believed dance music should sound like.  And under the club's requisite of maintaining an energetic dance floor at all times, Marivs quickly became adept at selecting and mixing tracks under pressure in order to produce that perpetual groove that he's known so well for today.

In 2013 he relocated to Toronto, Canada, where he continued to pursue his lifetime passion - the art of techno in its purest form - as 'Marivs,' which is the original Latin form of his birth name.

Behind the decks, Marivs's presence is commanding yet inviting, in the same way that his selections are dark and driving, yet delicate.  A perfectionist and a purist, Marivs has an innate ability to manipulate his music like few others can, whether the medium is analogue or digital.  He tells a story with each set that is so captivating that guests on his dancefloor have actually been cited as saying, "I didn't even know I liked techno until now."

Today Marivs is still viewed as a techno authority, not just with his DJ performances and productions, but also with his side promotion project Kaleidoscope, which is yet another avenue for him to show people what techno looks like through his eyes.

In his words: "Music shouldn't wake you up.  It should make you dream."
