Born and raised in a town called Baia Mare, in the mystical land of Transylvania, part of today's Romania, he first became dazzled by electronic music in the early 90s.  After a few years of his own musical exploration, he began DJing for a local radio show, which was dedicated to showcasing the best electronic music he could get his hands on.  That's where he played with two decks and a mixer for the first time.  Soon thereafter he was granted several placements in the clubs and festivals in his birth country, and he also began producing music, under the moniker Morris Newtone.

It wouldn't be a stretch to credit Marivs - then Morris Newtone - and his DJ buddies A.L.C.A., Delph Meer and Keed, with instituting the techno scene in his hometown in Romania.  At that time Marivs held a residency at one of the dance clubs in Baia Mare, wherein he was given enough free rein on the music he selected that he was able to truly demonstrate to his town what he believed dance music should sound like.  And under the club's requisite of maintaining an energetic dance floor at all times, Marivs quickly became adept at selecting and mixing tracks under pressure in order to produce that perpetual groove that he's known so well for today.

In 2013 he relocated to Toronto, Canada, where he continued to pursue his lifetime passion - the art of techno in its purest form - as 'Marivs,' which is the original Latin form of his birth name.

Behind the decks, Marivs's presence is commanding yet inviting, in the same way that his selections are dark and driving, yet delicate.  A perfectionist and a purist, Marivs has an innate ability to manipulate his music like few others can, whether the medium is analogue or digital.  He tells a story with each set that is so captivating that guests on his dancefloor have actually been cited as saying, "I didn't even know I liked techno until now."

Today Marivs is still viewed as a techno authority, not just with his DJ performances and productions, but also with his side promotion project Kaleidoscope, which is yet another avenue for him to show people what techno looks like through his eyes.

Originally from Mauritius, Olivier Francis has been involved in electronic music for over 20 years. Shaped by club culture and the energy of nightlife, he explores techno, deep house, and cinematic soundscapes, always aiming to create moments that connect and move people on the dancefloor.

His DJ sets focus on flow, tension, and progression — guided by a careful reading of the crowd and a genuine desire to tell a story through music.

Alongside DJing, Olivier continues to grow as a producer. He has released music on labels such as SoupHerb Records, Differed Records, Padang Records, Feel Hype Records, Alpaka Muzik, and Beige Records, with tracks supported by artists across the scene. His approach remains simple: keep experimenting, keep learning, and share emotion through sound.

), and actively contributes to bringing the collective’s values and events to Montreal.

It was 2013 when the first seed was sown in Karel Eggerding AKA Rustig, and Fuji Rademaker AKA Jules Rêver’s sonic partnership. Since then, the Dutch pair have collaborated as RUR - an electronic duo with their roots planted firmly in the 90s. Their sound blends their 90s influences with a modern techno feel, resulting in productions that are unmistakably RUR in nature.

Taking coinciding piano lessons may well have been the best decision Karel and Fuji ever made and, while the piano tuition may not have lasted, their friendship did. They soon saw the sense in collaborating, and they combined Karel’s production with Fuji’s pitch-shifted vocals to produce their first track, Clouds. With their first success under their belts, they went on to collaborate on several more recordings, before making it official. RUR was born and with it a sound that the pair have made truly their own.

The two cite influences ranging from literary science fiction (the name RUR is taken from a theatrical performance in which the word ‘robot’ was first used) through to those of a sonic persuasion - Speedy J, Blawan, Kendrick Lamar, and The Beastie Boys, to name but a minute selection. Such influences, as well as the wider 90s techno, electro, and hip-hop scenes in general, can be heard throughout the RUR back catalogue.

Locking themselves in the studio isn’t the only criteria on RUR’s to-do list, though. They frequently take their sounds public, and have previously graced the stage at Sugar Factory, Paradiso, and Doka - the club in which they presented their 2015 debut album, H+ as part of an audiovisual piece in conjunction with V-Motions. Festivals include Patterns and Mystic Garden.

Behind the mixing desk, though, Rustig and Jules make use of a selection of hardware, recorded into Ableton and resulting in their unique sound, which made it to no less than six releases on Natural Behave in 2018. A similar set-up is taken on the road, as Ableton Live meets drum machine and synth, with Fuji controlling his pitch-shifted vocals with a range of stomp-boxes.

With support coming from the likes of Erol Alkan, Alex Bau, The Advent, Chris Liebing, Cari Lekebusch, Dj Emerson, Subjected, Submerge, Marcel Dettmann, 2000 and one, Scuba, Radio Slave, Renaat Vandepapeliere, and Maceo Plex, it is plain to see why RUR are fast becoming the name on everyone’s lips.
