A while back Soundcloud, god bless 'em, bumped this particular mix of mine off its server because of a silly copyright issue stemming from the first track. But have no fear - I did a little bit of editing tomfoolery to try and outsmart soundcloud's copyright gestapo and, for the time being, it looks like it worked! This mix is by far one of my most favorite mixes I've done in the history of my Tropical residency and I'm excited to be able to share it once again. I strongly recommend that you download immediately just in case the powers that be strike again. :-)

First record went on at 3am right after DUBTRIBE SOUNDSYSTEM'S excellent live performance and I continued playing until 6:30. London-based DJ Ella’s passion for music started from an early age. Having trained at the Royal Ballet School, Ella has previously worked as one of the UK’s top commercial dancers. Her dance career has seen her work alongside artists including Kylie Minogue, Calvin Harris and appeared on TV shows including The X factor, Britain’s Got Talent and towards the end of her career dancing in the London Olympic closing ceremonies 2012.

After a highly successful dancing career, self-confessed party girl Ella turned her attention to behind the decks.

Ella currently has London residencies at Madison’s, Bluebird, Gaucho, Nobu, Avenue & The Sky bar at the new Tottenham Stadium.

She is also a firm favorite in the fashion & design world, playing a diverse range of High profile events & A-List parties for brands including Dior, DVF, Porsche, McLaren, and Selfridges.

She has also played Internationally at ‘Shimmy Beach Club’ in South Africa, ‘Nammos’ in Mykonos, Portugal. Monaco, ‘MAXX Royale’ in Turkey & most recently in Bangladesh for NYE. This summer she makes her debut playing in Ibiza at the legendary Pikes.

Ella’s DJ sets greatly depend on the venue & crowd.

Her music is generally a fusion of genres from downtewmpo & lounge to Jazz/Funk/Soul/Disco & House. Her vast music collection has seen her play in both London’s underground circuit and representing the most luxurious brands.

Wally Callerio Live at Cosmic Disco LA with Mark Farina 6 22 2013 (Wally Callerios Bday bash)

This set was recorded live at an underground weekly after-show called Etch A Sketch which started sometime in late 92 by Scott Leitzke & James Heth.  The weekly was held in a vacant basement of a building in the gaslamp area of downtown san diego. Despite the dodgy name and the fact it started in the wee hours of the morning, it was a very fun, but short lived night which offered music and a "free breakfast cereal bar" which was a pretty unique idea at the time. The djs on this particular night, if my memory serves me correctly, was DJ Xstatic aka Daeman, Joey Jimenez & myself. This was the era I was constantly being billed as the "sunrise" dj and you can hear why on this mix. Lots of deep / early morning house classics here plus a few other surprises. This mix has never seen the light of day until now. I hope you get a kick out of hearing this mix which is just a few months past 19 years in age. A big thanks goes to Nathalie Schroeder for lending me her copy of this cassette tape since I had lost mine years ago in a move.

In a pinch, if forced to employ adjectives to describe the Mark E. Quark style, one would come up with words like “groovy, laid back and nasty” house music. But putting grammar aside, it’s reasonable to just say that Quark has internalized influences from DJ Harvey, Idjut Boys, Jeno, and Andrew Weatherall, mashed them up, and given life to a signature style and a creature which is totally unique. This creature is currently brought to life for public consumption  at Moonshake in San Diego.
