Started this page purely to upload all the old show recordings from Detonation Radio on Bop FM (UpFM's sister station)that Andrew & I hosted for a couple of years around 2010-2011.
we talked a lot of rubbish... hilarious banter! 
I think it'll be nice way to remember our special friend Andrew Dreaver aka HAZE! who is sadly no longer with us.  

Lots of laughs guaranteed in these files. And for those who were close to Andrew, this is a way to make sure you'll never forget his infectious laughter & his cheeky way with words. I think its a waste not having them up for everyone to enjoy so will get onto adding them over the next couple of weeks.

Joe Johnson burst onto the Auckland scene in March 2007 and has been tearing up dancefloors ever since. He brings a level of energy that is rarely seen behind the decks, and is by far one of the most approachable Dj’s out there. 

The ex Aucklander and now Christchurch local is a turfie by day while moonlighting in the clubs by night. Some of the events Joe has played at include Our House, Slinky, Nitelife, Stoneyridge New Years 07/08, Harder Edge, Global Summer Dance Festival, Oxygen, Gatecrasher and the UpFM Solar Series. He also used to have his own radio show on UpFM, Saturday evenings 8-10, and can be seen at around New Zealand most weekends. 

Joe is best known for his big driving basslines and epic build-ups. He claims the key to success is “You gotta enjoy the music you play, it reflects in your performance and the crowd draw energy off you”. Joe thrives on having all eyes on him and says “Djing is about communicating with people through music, it give you the best natural high you can imagine.”

Like many, Joe started off mucking around on his friends decks, creating trainwreck mixes for anyone who would listen. After many hours of practice perfecting his ‘sound’, he decided he had something different to offer Auckland clubbers. His reason being not enough DJ’s out there looked like they were enjoying what they were playing. 

As in many industries, Djing is about who you know not what you know, and because Joe co-runs nightlife entertainment website CityVibes he had a great headstart. Although being an all-round nice guy has definitely helped him get out there. Joe gets a kick out of playing on the same bill as DJ’s he looks up to. He used to watch the likes of Gavin S at the Met and Joylon Petch around town, and now he plays before or after them.

Joe respects DJ/Producers such as Tim Richards and Tommy Trash, and hopes to be playing his own tunes in the clubs within the next few years. Watch this space, he is as ambitious as they come, and plans to be playing in the UK and Ibiza in the near future. This has driven him to recieve the Annual NITE:LIFE awards Best up and comer/new DJ 2009, and runner up best electro DJ 2009

Joe also Co-Runs Neat Events with good friend Jamie White, putting on Parties such as FLOORPLAY and BALANCE.

Hey guys, 

Abbie here, Abbra from Bay of Plenty New Zealand. 

I’ve been in the NZ Hardhouse circuit since approx 2001- 2002 mostly in and around Auckland and Tauranga with a few gigs over NZ such as Welly, Christchurch, Timaru, New Plymouth, Hamilton & Rotorua, playing primarily vinyl and Cdj. 

I have a huge love for Hardhouse which will never fade, but more recently been playing a lot more Drum n Bass, Breakbeat & Melodic Techno. Drum n bass is a massive passion of mine now too! 

Having held my first Hardhouse residency with Decadance, and prior to that having toured NZ with a couple of the original Fevah NZ crew (circa 2001-2002), and playing at some of the most incredible gigs and clubs when the NZ scene was in its prime. Some of those include Slinky, Gods Kitchen, Zebedee, Decadance, Stereodays, Meltdown, Frantic, Industry, Meow, Octane, Born 2 Bang & many more (which I’ll update soon) 

Highlights of my time on the wheels of steel so far , my time on the decks at Roma nightclub in Tauranga will always be it as it’s where it all started for me with such an incredible crew who all turned into family for life ❤️ some other highlights have been playing the last set after Lisa Lashes on her “Lashed” tour 2003 at St James, Regent theatre. 
Then my absolute favourite B2B set ever with the incredible Lucy Fur at Frantic Fantasy, Space Bar Auckland in 2009. Such a weapon of a human that lass! 

I have many more pieces to add about the immense clubs these nights were held in, and the djs I shared this time with but I’m just throwing this in off the cuff so will be back to update this soon.
