In July 2010, I got an invitation to play at a small but neat festival named Folk Ibiza. It was my first visit to the island. I got to spin at a bunch of different locations, such as the Hostal Boutique Salinas, Sunset Ashram, and on the terrace at Space. I returned in September of the following year to play a set on Andy Wilson's show on Ibiza Sonica and a second time at the Hostal. I have not been back to Ibiza since. I recently came across this picture (taken at Cala Compte next to Sunset Ashram), which inspired me to make this mix. I tried to sonically capture the vibe that I felt back then. It includes some bona fide classics such as Ashra "Oasis“, Santana "Aqua Marine," and Jah Wobble & Holger Czukay "Hold On To Your Dreams," as well as tunes by Smith & Mudd, Begin, Quiet Village and more. Sadar Bahar's dreams are captured in grooves. After years and years of digging deep for records, the Chicagoan built a collection that's too big to fit in his house. Although he has collected more records than he could possibly play, his search doesn't stop, and drops by our store from time to time to see dig the racks.

Bahar got into the music scene in the early '80s, with childhood friend, Charles Brekenridge, who introduced him to the mixing game and taught him how to blend records. Later, Frankie Knuckles showed him the magic of the dance floor. During this time, Chicago was filled with DJ’s who played house and disco sounds. However, Sadar chose a different direction - playing rare & hard-to-find grooves. It is an honor to present this mix, that features a selection picks found in the RH store racks on the day.
