In the 1600’s the Catholic Church begins the inquisition of physicist and astronomer Galileo Galilei. Galileo was ordered to turn himself in to the Holy Office to begin trial for holding the belief that the Earth revolves around the sun. 400 years later, the use of dogma to persecute the innocent persists, while in some areas of the world, church attendance and affiliation is dropping. ‘Dry Erase Marker’ creates a recording of an apocryphal weekly service broadcast, in the manner of an audio whiteboard of samples and scribblings related to these themes.

RADIOPHRENIA is a temporary art radio station broadcasting intermittently from the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow.

The broadcast schedule includes a series of 16 newly commissioned radio works, 14 Live-to-Air performances as well as live studio shows, screenings, shorts and pre-recorded features. As in previous years the majority of the programme will be made up from selections submitted to an international open call for sound art and radio works.

Radiophrenia first began broadcasting in April 2015 with subsequent editions in 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020 and 2022.

  This song started with Artur composing a brilliant, open piece on his guitar, in his distinct surf rock style, and sending it to Josh. Josh put the bass down on top of Ken's banging drums, but it took Josh, a while to be able to get this one for some reason. Once he and Ken were locked in, though, they knew they had it. JJ then sprinkled his electric keyboard magic, followed by Tez, who lights up the whole thing with his electric guitar wizardry. 
  At Artur's request, Ken, JJ, and Josh added the big harmony vocals, "See you soon, in a better world." Artur wanted this song to be about the need for peace in the world. Last, but certainly not least, Stephen added the sitar intro. He also accomplished the herculean task of mixing and producing the whole thing for us.
  This is another true team effort by the Eclectic Collective, and the fourth in our series of surf rock songs. This also happens to coincide with Artur's birthday, so please go to his page and wish him a happy birthday. We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed creating it.

I am an artist / musician / programer working in the west midlands, I am currently signed to US labels http://n5md.com/ and http://enpeg.com/ and have release work on UK labels http://hibernate-recs.co.uk/ and http://www.audiobulb.com/ and member of the Modulate AV collective http://www.modulate.org.uk

My work has a strong interest in systems and generative processes in art and music - I have developed a number of software applications which allow me to work with these processes in a live performance environment. I usually work from heavily processed samples of live instruments and field recordings - Although there is a strong systems based element in my work, I tend to work though a process of improvisation with the samples in real time to generate the work. I aim to create immersive work which gradually develops over time and creates a sense of space and place,and generates a strong emotional response in the listener.
