The main character of the story is 'Johnny' who's a dreamer, and we follow Johnny through his dreams, journeys, his relationship with the world, with others, love, faith and Christmas.  Johnny is really me in real life, so Johnny's story is a mirror of my life.  I hope that in putting this playlist together, others can see a glimpse of what I see in the concept of this musical, and someday, my dream will come to life on the stage!  Enjoy!  Cheers! ☼ :) Mark

"Dreamer" is a song of mine from Set 3 of 19 sets, and I swapped guitars from a synthesized Fender Strat to the clean sound of my acoustic 12-string Ovation, using two external mics - one for the guitar and one for my voice.  I was never happy with the effects I had available for the Fender Strat, and preferred the acoustic sound of the 12-string Ovation anyway - and recorded all the rest of my songs using it.  By Set 3 I had more experience in this recording process and my voice is noticeably more relaxed, and I began to actually enjoy this process of singing, playing and recording my own songs! The third take starts out more dynamically, but there are a few awkward "without you" phrasings in this take that weren't nearly as smooth as all the others ~ it is what it is, another day in my life ~ back in 1997! Original Song - "A Little Time"

I recorded my original song "When Will You See" on Set 16 in 1997, and it's a little a cappella song I wrote on the piano that seems more to me like a moment from a theatrical play than anything else when the lead sings, "When will you see it, When will you see that my love is true, When will you feel it, When will you feel what I feel for you, For you..."  My voice scrapes along at the very top of its range for a few moments, but otherwise I was lucky to get through it on this second take...enjoy! ♡ :) Mark

I recorded my original song "Me And My Piano" in two takes as demos on Set 15 in 1997, and it's an autobiographical glimpse into my songwriting done on the piano, yet played on the guitar, "It's been years in the makin', Spending long, lonely nights, Me and my piano, Workin' late into the night..."
