So much to like here, Mark.  As usual, your production is impeccable, your vocals are compelling, and your message is accessible without being cliché. One thing I would suggest is to change the last line of the chorus.  Based on the rest of the lyrics, it's incongruous because it suggests that there's something wrong (or at least that's how I'm reading it), when actually everything is very right.  But I like the mend/pretend rhyme & rhythm, so how about "there's no more need to pretend.."?  It just removes the ambiguity, at least to my ears.  But that's nit-picky, isn't it? :-)
