Fred Sturm's arrangement of the great Astor Piazzolla tune, Mumuki, both stirs the inner depths of the soul and soars to heights of ecstasy.  It was a real pleasure playing this with the Eastman Jazz Ensemble over a decade ago.  The song's title, Mumuki was both the name of Piazzolla's favoite Dog, and the nickname for his beloved wife.

"Goodbye LA, Hello LA" was written and performed on guitar by Joe Howard with Mark Woodyatt contributing the violin performance and arrangement, which was improvised and recorded in 2 unedited takes.  This is emotive track is a fine example of Mark's ability to tastefully accompany by spontaneously performing live in a studio setting.  Shameless self promotion-   This showcases the musicmagic that manifesrs when he is presented with an unfamiliar piece and is limited to a short confine of time to record and add to an artists track in a tasteful and complimentary manner, challenged with the task of playing in a complimentary way that doesn't take away or overpower the songwriters performance, but highlights it, enhancing the song,   This track was recorded, produced, mixed and mastered on 6/23/13 by the brilliant Eric Ritter at Windmill Agency.  Thanks to Joe Howard for letting me put this up.

We remember the day our manager came into our studio aka drew's living room apartment to show us this new band he was going to sign to Disruptor Records. The first record he played us was this tune Overload and we were hooked! We had never heard of them before but we proceeded to listen to 10 more songs of theirs and we were blown away. Their sound was so refreshing from the instruments to their vocals. There was a summertime quality to all their music that couldn't be denied. Flash forward a couple months and we had the chance to meet them in LA. We proceeded to do what any dudes meeting for the first time would do, we through a mansion party at a buddies got totally blackout and missed the call time for what was our Let You Go music video. Flash even more forward and Overload is taking over top40 and they are about to drop their next single Dreams! The boys were cool enough to let us take a shot a remixing overload and putting our touch on it. The song itself is already just so amazing and vibey... its like drinking coconut water on a beach while getting a foot rub and someone somewhere else transferring large sums of money into your bank acct. SO we figured why change that and just change the foot rub to a back massage and money to a kiss from a chick you really are into but didn't know she was also into you.... So without further adieu... our remix of Overload!

This was performed for a man who was transitioning in the intensive care unit of a hospital where I was playing. I could tell from the feeling in my heart that he was not going to make it and they play this piece with the intent to help aid in his transition back to the divine light. This is a beautiful testimony to my divine purpose on this planet, at this time, end it is truly an honor, whenever I have the opportunity, to be able to make even a small difference in anyone's life. My violin versatility abides in a deep faith in my God-granted talents and the success that soulful authenticity, dedication to honoring the song, playful attitude, propensities for taking on new ideas in my heart and daily life. My sometimes virtuosic violin playing is highlighted by the great players whose talents are in this genre-crossing performance catalogue which features some of my more wildly explorative unique compositions, improvisation and collaborations with many different projects involving a host of talented musicians, solo and studio Stevie Wonder-inspired songs highlighted in the many hours of these recordings and oftentimes playful explorations. These moments of clarity and creation, ultimately, transfigured into the myriad explorations of sonic and visionary ideas, happenings and expressions you which you are free to discover through the direct experiences contained throughout many of these recordings with a wide array of different styles, artists and collaborations. The music is here for us all to freely explore and I sincerely hope you enjoy listening to them. I have for many years now, and continue to discover hidden gems.
