Fred Sturm's arrangement of the great Astor Piazzolla tune, Mumuki, both stirs the inner depths of the soul and soars to heights of ecstasy.  It was a real pleasure playing this with the Eastman Jazz Ensemble over a decade ago.  The song's title, Mumuki was both the name of Piazzolla's favoite Dog, and the nickname for his beloved wife.

Mark Woodyatt 'Live' at my 31st B-day concert..One of my favorite tunes played by an outstanding group of some of my favorite musicians, performing together as a unit for the first time.  This recording (made by Bill Roditski) captures the live sound of the fantastic space that is Covenant Presbyterian Church.  This recital marked the last day before my 31st Birthday, and the guests on this track were all musicians I respect greatly. Nick Driscoll, a fabulous wonder, was on Clarinet, The incomparable master Tony Marino on Bass, the great virtuoso Ron Stabinsky tickled the ivories, and harmonized and took a solo to honor Ray Nance...the original and only violinist who played in the Ellington Band (he was lead trumpet for over 20 years).

This was performed for a man who was transitioning in the intensive care unit of a hospital where I was playing. I could tell from the feeling in my heart that he was not going to make it and they play this piece with the intent to help aid in his transition back to the divine light. This is a beautiful testimony to my divine purpose on this planet, at this time, end it is truly an honor, whenever I have the opportunity, to be able to make even a small difference in anyone's life. My violin versatility abides in a deep faith in my God-granted talents and the success that soulful authenticity, dedication to honoring the song, playful attitude, propensities for taking on new ideas in my heart and daily life.
