Meine eigenwillige Interpretation von elektronischer Musik. Ich bin beeinflusst von meinen alten Helden- alle aufzuzählen würde den Rahmen sprengen. Nur einige: DJ Hell, Dave Clarke, Laurent Garnier, Surgeon, Dopplereffekt, Drexciya, Arpanet, die ganzen Detroit Leute, Aphex Twin und eigentlich alle die den Sound der 90er geprägt haben.  Das waren so viele. Verdammt gute Musiker.

60 years of addiction to music, and I think it will be like this until the end…

I always try to listen to all genres of music. Of course, I don’t love them all, but above all I love music that makes you feel good, that calms, transcends, takes me on a journey and transports me into immersive, even depressive states.

I believe that 127 BPM is the magic number — I love it!!!

I grew up listening to Pink Floyd and Radiohead (Thom Yorke, I LOVE him!!!). I’ve loved Massive Attack and Portishead ever since I discovered them; electronic music came into my life through Massive Attack. From then on, I’ve preferred Minimal Techno over melodic styles, and I really like Dub.

Naturally, I also enjoy House, more the old-school House, and I don’t mind a certain kind of Afro House either.

Not long ago I discovered HYPNOTIC TECHNO, and I’ve been there ever since — love at first note, hahaha.

In the sets I play, my dark and depressive side always comes through. I don’t really like making abrupt transitions; I prefer long, hypnotic loops. I know that for the dancefloor this can be a bit “boring”, but it is what it is…

I don’t do much preparation when building a set. I like to navigate by sight — in other words, I choose the tracks according to how I’m feeling the set at the moment. I create transition loops on the fly, same with cue points. Sometimes it doesn’t turn out the way I wanted, but I don’t have much patience for preview preparations and all that…

Die Rote Erde (Red Earth / Czerwona Ziemia) is A.J. Kaufmann’s psychedelic experiment, solo or with guests. Inspired by Burroughs, Krautrock, MacLise, Free Jazz & early industrial, it blends guitars, synths, samples, tapes & field sounds into noise, drones, punk, ambient & kosmische.

These days, everything is recorded through my Mackie Onyx 8 analogue mixer.  I prefer to create sounds on my analogue synths but you'll also hear sounds created with my Korg Wavestate and Roland S-1.  All percussion/drums are played by me on my Native Instruments Maschine Mikro Mk3, where I spend a lot of time manipulating samples to hopefully get something original sounding.
