This lecture took place in Markaz Mu’adh bin Jabal, Slough, UK (2014). Abu Iyaad explains the terms used by the early generations to describe the people of Sunnah. He speaks about the era wherein an abundance of innovations entered into this ummah, explaining in chronological context. Once these historical foundations are laid down, he clarifies why ahlus Sunnah are to be grateful for the guidance Allaah has bestowed upon them.

Lesson Four

Allāh has made the matter of being united upon the truth and avoiding division clear and sufficient, in a way that even the common people can understand.

Division is a cause of destruction.

The roots of division and misguidance must be understood and avoided.

True unity comes through submission and adherence to the revelation from Allāh- the Qur'ān and the Sunnah.

It is only Allāh who can change the conditions of the hearts.

Reflect upon what united the hearts of the Companions (may Allāh be pleased with them).
