Ryan James Ford’s productions are rarely anything other than inspired. Through regular releases on Marcel Dettmann Records, Answer Code Request and his own SHUT imprint, Ford has proved to be an exciting producer, capable of mangling sounds and styles to fit his wide-ranging musical vision.
The Berlin-based Canadian arrives on Happy Skull with a label debut that dramatically emphasizes the point. While each of the four tracks features audible nods to a wealth of influences and inspirations, the bold individuality of the resultant cuts all but renders such comparisons redundant.
For example, EP opener “Ormst Kaban”, whose wild, crashing, off-grid breakbeats and twisted, foreboding electronics aggressively spar with glacial chords and icy textures. The 16 bit arpeggio lines of 'Hobrv Kegdit' are underpinned by powerful sub-bass tones and industrial drum-breaks that merge to create a densely sprawling mass of dance floor melancholia.
This pattern continues throughout the EP, with “Slown Ridel” and “Nos Ummi” balancing skittish, noise-seeped percussion with the dreamy, glassy-eyed swell of classic ambient and pioneering early ‘90s IDM.

Felix Kubin has been involved with the noise project Klangkrieg, the communist singing group Liedertafel Margot Honecker and the tetchy teenage bands Die Egozentrischen 2 and x2. Reaching from abstract Expressionism to Pop Surrealism and cassette tape punk. If isolation and social distancing is a marathon separated in different phases, there's the right music that helps to survive each one of them. "I am not a collector. My records observe me. They lead their own life. The easiest records to find in my archive are the film scores. I only have a small bunch of them because a lot of film music is mediocre, pompous and unnecessary. The scores I put together for this collection are so strong in form and content that they can easily exist without the films. Their composers experimented with new techniques and means of expression. Some of the scores are abstract, some cross the border to foley sound. It seems that production companies and directors respected the artistic freedom of film composers more in the past. But film music can never be just a greasy background noise. Film music has to be an actor - or stay silent. " - Felix Kubin

Improving his technic and style Mark Boombastik became the only experimental human beatboxer. Through the years he`s worked with a lot of different people, from Hamburg`s hip hop scene (Trainingslager,Fischmob) to electronic musicians ( Hofoku Soshi, Funkstrung,Patric Catani) besides doing his own incredible live concerts all over Europe. " Since the whopper got stock in the throats of the Fat Boys in the middle of the 80s,nobody ever created such a thunderstorm of fat beats of all colours with his mouth." Mark Boombastik puts his very raw and tight beats through special analogic effects so that he creates his songs live. His pure intensity is equipped with an attitude that doesn`t leave no doubts . Meanwhile Mark Boombastik lives in Berlin and is recording his album.
