From East end barrow boy to club nights on the Costas Dj Dan “the Drum” Spalding has done guest slots and warm up sets that include the legends that are Norman Jay MBE, Dave Lee, Craig Charles, Brandon Block and Huey Morgan to name but a few.

Having spent his early years quite literally banging the drum for his beloved Spurs the name stuck and so did his love for all things with a beat. The journey starts with a 14 year old Danny dabbling in the street sounds of East London’s Walthamstow, where record shops were revered as places of worship, and frequented by musical pilgrims. Funk & Soul, Reggae, Ska, House , rare Groove, Hip Hop, you don’t stop.. Well, you get the picture/soundscape… eclectic music, for eclectic people.

This back story and the massive influence of the likes of Norman Jay, mixing music regardless of genre, always putting the tune first, and marrying the tune to the right occasion at the right time, is what Dan is all about.

Radio Presenter on the Acid Jazz Records Totally Wired Radio and Co-Founder of The Lockdown Legacy. Which has raised thousands for Local and National charities raising money doing dj events online through lockdown and now back in venues arranging parties. But he is still happiest behind the decks and behind the mic presenting on the wireless.

2021 saw Dan team up with legendary midlands producer Mark Breakwell to  form SAAF Central, producing original tracks across the MOBO spectrum.

a little bit about myself. i have worked at Backstreet Atlanta, Armory Atlanta and Velvet Atlanta I also worked at OZ in Fayetteville NC and was resident DJ at the Castle in Greenville SC for about 15 years give or take. i reported to Billboard dance charts as a Billboard dj. When i was at the Castle i was proud to have been dj of the year for sc 3 times consecutively. also during my residency we were presented with club of the year for the southeast region and dj of the year for the southeast region. music is my passion and i try to present this everytime i play. i have a tendency towards the unusual. percussion and basslines are a prominent part of my mixes.currently doing one offs and house parties. quote  "if you cant wiggle your butt it shouldnt be played".  in addition, any sets that are removed will be placed on mixcloud. use the link below to get to the site.
