We are a four piece band with drums (Alex), two guitars (Joel and Luke), vocals (Joel) and bass (Michael). We mainly do covers but occasionally write our own stuff!

As a self confessed 'split personality dj basket case', Kid Blast aka Johnny Showbiz aka James Wilson aka Ian Williams is a reclusive guy who seems to have more aliases than MI5. With a history stretching from the late 80s, he has been spinning records now for 22 years under a variety of names (“I change my name each time I start playing a new style of music, don’t ask me why!”), and has played at pretty much all of the venues that kickstarted the Northern rave scene, before taking a break in the late 90s, re-discovering funk and old school hip hop, and reinventing himself as a block party dj extraordinaire, along the way playing alongside the likes of A Skillz, Prodigy, Krafty Kuts, and Rob Da Bank, and establishing himself as a Funkademia resident since 2009 at Manchester's longest running club night of 16 years. 

These mixes have previously only been available on Mixcloud, so now they are available for download too. Due to only having 12 hours of time available for uploads, I will be deleting older mixes to make way for newer mixes, however the older ones will still be available on Mixcloud, and if you want a download send me a message and I'll send you a link. After a decade of awesome clubbing at the likes of: Back to Basics; The Gallery; The Cooker; Up Yer Ronson; The Warehouse; Hacienda; Electric Chair; Love to Be; Gatecrasher; Bed; Cannel Club; Rotation; Camouflage; Ministry of Sound; Blue Note and Fabric; and whilst out in Manchester the concept of Jellybean was born…
//2003 and on the August Bank Holiday the first Jellybean event was held mixing together on a glorious hot summer's day a special blend of Soulful House, Rare-Groove, Disco-Funk and Breaks – keeping everyone groovin’ from mid-afternoon till late... a series of events followed with resident and local guest DJs.
//DJ'ing on Unity FM during 2004, brought back memories of the early PCR days, and gave Steve the chance to showcase what he was about in terms of music variety…
//2005 Jellybean moved over to the newly built ’53 Degrees’ and celebrated its soulful housewarming with Sole Channel’s supremo, Alix Alvarez (NYC)… Jellybean continued to embrace quality underground dance music and featured further live guest DJs from the global house scene, the likes of: Jon Cutler; Neil Pierce; Aaron Ross; Bobby &amp; Steve; Dave Jones and Alix Alvarez ones again... plus the live D'n'B group set from the awesome 'Spree'… A series of nights truly all about great music, great people and great times…
//2007 moving to the 'The Loft', Jellybean continued with the house vibe, with residents and guests: Bhavik; Mark Sprakes; Si Patch; Simm; Phil Rose; Les Croasdaile (Stylus); Dave Jones (MN2S); Mr Carps (The Dustitutes); Graham Lord (Audiowhores); Dave ‘Redsoul’ Wareing. //2007 Steve also joined forces with the Sunday Soul Collective creating the concept of 'Supafly' a strictly ‘non-house’ night, bringing back the funk-fuelled classics that had inspired him in the first instance! Supafly featuring: Chris Da Mentalist; Kid Blast; Miz Diz; Simba; Matter; Steve Jalapeno and Nathan ‘The Hitman’ Hearn and playing out on tour alongside the likes of the Unabombers...
//Present day and Steve is still keeping the faith and still a purveyor of fine music and can still be spotted spinning out and about from time-to-time…

From Jan 1994 - Nov 2003 (alongside Tim Pearson, Stoke's finest) I ran Feel, one of the UK's most successful club brands. 

Throughout this time I was the club's resident DJ, playing alongside Dave Seaman, John Digweed, Paul van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold and Timo Maas, to name but 5. 

Other highlights included:  playing regularly for Cream and Gatecrasher; signed to Boy George's management company Red Parrot; gigs throughout Europe, most memorable: Exogroove, Milan & Amnesia, Ibiza; peaked at 134 in the DJ Magazine Top 100 DJ's poll (2002); ran Pacifica Recordings (with Tim & Christian Parkinson) writing and releasing 17 tracks, several of which were signed to GU compilations; remixed many more. 

In Nov 2003 I effectively retired from life as a professional DJ, promoter, musician and record label boss. I now work run events agency, Mammoth Events (with Amanda Gilmour).

I put together the occasional mix (currently averaging one a year). This usually coincides with the wife having a busy social/work period.
