Second single from the latest album Kaleidoscope, written by MATTHIAS VOGT produced by AXEL REINEMER (Jazznova), accomponied with a great remix by the "man of the hour" OPOLOPO from Sweden and a video produced by german director CASPAR ARNHOLD.

"At first glance" introduces new [re:jazz] vocalist Mediha. its not done on purpose, but this song - written by Matthias Vogt - is dealing with a first impression, it is about being underrated at first sight. The subtle instrumental with all its fragile structures underlining this mood. Medihas voice, an upright bass, wurlitzer, drums, congas and a jazz guitar - a plain and simple instrumentation and arrangement. A beautiful melody. this is AT FIRST GLANCE.

Very happy to have Opolopo with his funk driven disco remix contribution on board for this release. A true "future" classic. Opolopo is Yoruban for "plenty", a word that best exemplifies the diversity of this production wizard’s musical voyage. Opolopo is the man of the hour with his outstanding remix for Grammy nominated vocalist Gregory Porter "1960 What" an many other remixes and collaborations for The Sunburst Band, Mario Biondi, Azymuth, Dazz Band, Mr. V, and Lanu (The Bamboos) in the last years.

The release (original title not rmx) is accomponied by a video from director Caspar Arnhold. Caspar earned money as assistant and editorial photographer during school days. He studied acting & theatre in London After several years as an actor Caspar has directed, photographed and produced numerous short and feature films, interactive projects, commercials and coporate videos since 2005. It's funny nothing much for a few years and then two albums end up getting finished right at the same time. This second one is with my friend and top class trumpet player Wayne Morley. Wayne Morley an accomplished trumpet and flugel player with a beautiful Chet Baker sound and feel has collaborated with Mark Dorricott a keys player / songwriter to create a fourteen track album of original numbers called 'City Lights - Time Out Of Mind'. There's nothing really like this around at the moment, and if you want to hear some great late night jazz infused chill out sounds, you've come to the right place.

An album of two parts 'City Lights' which has more up tempo jazzy chill out sounds, and 'Time Out Of Mind' which has a downtempo late night feel. There's always a jazz element running through the whole album that flows through different vibes from chillhop to funk to latin to ambient and other places.

Hi, I'm a keys player and I like making up grooves to existing jazz and latin standards. Over the last few years I've been mainly working on original numbers.

It's just me in the music you hear, I play all the parts off a keyboard recording in midi and layer up into the finished version.

I started playing the piano as a kid , then took up the trombone and played for fun in various local amateur bands and orchestras. Then at 18 went to college and didn't do anything  musically  for many years. Started playing the saxophone and tuba more recently, and in the last four years or so got back into the keyboard which is now my main instrument.

I like making up jazzy  late night music & music you can listen to when travelling. Sounds like a strange thing but I find the most enjoyable part of a holiday is the travelling part, whether that's on a plane , train or even a car on a quiet road with some nice views. Looking through a window with a changing view, in a bubble of suspended time between two worlds, that's what travelling feels like to me, and I like to write music that sounds that way - http://soundcloud.com/markd54321/361-stolen-moments-320kbps .
