The phrases in the first verse were whirling around in my head as I tried to make an ultimately insignificant decision that consumed me for an hour. This song captures that feeling of having so many options but not know which to take.

Drugs are getting low so no one’s getting high
How can a body execute or send a man to die? 
Caught behind the eight ball, but now we're doing fine
Cause Justice Death is stalking in the robes of number nine

Appellant was convicted in a savage crime of hate
But extenuating circumstances just might mitigate
Defender was intoxicated, judge had crossed the line
But Justice Death is walking in the robes of number nine

Unprecedented killing spree, eight men to retire
Arkansas’ midazolam was ready to expire
Political agendas never can be blind
And Justice Death is talking in the robes of number nine

The rush to kill before use-by date
Is somewhat close to random
Grant a stay dissenters say
Wait a day for DNA
The court rejects in tandem

Life and death decided by
Majority election
To make sure more unwilling die
The state has sanctioned killing by
Lethal drug injection

Death’s a dirty business when administered by state
Taking pride in homicide the people legislate
Faded men in prison garb mull around and wait
While lawyers argue motions to warp the weave of fate

Appealing to the highest court with travesties they find
