After 10 years of making, the first single "Mama" from my album named Mylène is out. Releasing on July 14th—my mom's birthday. I've always wanted to release the full album on this day, but the main theme of my album has been learning to let go. I decided that the amount of work I've put into this album needs to get the attention it deserves, so I will release singles almost every week until the final full album releases on October 14th.

The first song, Mama, is sung by me in my native language, Dutch. It is a deeply personal song, which tells a very direct story of my grief. The lyrics came after I found the chords, and I teared up so much when I started the track in 2021. I questioned myself all these years, what to do with this? It's in Dutch, and it's a bit different than my usual music. But then, after the whole process of finding a new way of coping with my mom's passing—letting go of the little boy inside of me who still wanted to save her by honoring her—I found out that this was the start of my healing process. Since this track is so much about that little boy who still missed her so much and couldn’t let go.

It's the only Dutch song on the album, but it's one of the purest, most emotional, and personal songs I've written.

I was happy to go through all the old VHS footage of me and her and to make this video clip together with my good friend Boudewijn Grammer, who shot the scenes in the sea with me singing.
