PLK is a producer based over in Israel who works in the TV industry. 'Dreamware' was a tune championed by Mako a long time ago on the first ever Utopia podcast and finally sees the light of day. You can hear the Photek and Teebee inspirations on this, whilst containing an original element too.

UM018 represents a rebirth for Utopia. Up until now it has been a strict vinyl policy for all releases, but with the amount of music they are sitting on, the decision has been made to get some of it out there to make room for more signings. The EP is diverse but retains the Utopian ethic which we have come to love, tight production, at home on the radio or dancefloor, and the largest bass weight.

My Phantom Audio partner Spirit and I team up with the multi talented, well travelled, all round straight up nice guy, Om Unit to bash out a deep and deadly track called 'Skull'. 

Spirit and I don't do too bad with the dubbed out 'Stolen Desire' which I've featured in heaps of online mixes and club sets over the last 6 months. 

'Jungle Jaw' is full of fun and energy to lift your day, or night if you're a DJ who loves their Jungle. I team up with Nomine aka Outrage aka Zero Bpm for 'Jungle Jaw' which is a pleasure as he's a long time friend with substance.

If there's anyone out there who can leisurely say he runs Function as much as I do its Kiat. He's always there for advice, he does the artwork off his own back and he releases on the label too. He still makes time for this while running the audio visual collective syndicate and design studio 'System Sovereign' , both together with his wife Cherry Chan.

I love our track 'War' for its brutal rawness. It's heavy!

On August 13th London/Leeds-based seven piece Submotion Orchestra presented Blind Spot - the second single taken from their eagerly-anticipated second album Fragments. Now comes the stunning remix package.

Last year Submotion Orchestra released their debut LP Finest Hour. It lead to widespread media praise, an army of fervent fans, rapturous festival shows worldwide and sold-out headline gigs, including London’s Scala.

Blind Spot signals big things for Submotion Orchestra’s next chapter. Following the stylistic dancefloor shift of last single It’s Not Me It’s You, this new single swings the pendulum back to the lush and expansive sound that made the band’s name. It takes what was already a sweepingly cinematic blueprint and goes one step bigger and better, both musically and sonically.

The contrast between this track and It’s Not Me It’s You also highlights how the band have grown from their deubt: Fragments moves coherently between more styles than before, marking a broader palate of influences seeping into their output.

A curious blend of melancholy and subtly rising euphoria, Blind Spot fuses the band’s previous smoky and at times dense sound with a brighter, more pristine and summery optimism. It simultaneously maintains their signature mix of big bass, drums, piano/synth, strings, brass and Ruby’s sumptuous vocals - all finding their perfectly-audible place in the mix.

Translation Recordings is proud to unveil The Solstice EP featuring the unparalleled musical talent of UK veteran producer Theory.  In this the catalogue's second EP, enter a journey across a unique spectrum of tracks showcasing Theory's dabbling with magic in multiple genres.  The EP begins with "Babylon Dem."  Immerse yourself in a dub anthem half-step tune where old school ragga vibes intermingle with heavystep drums and haunting synth FX preparing you with a bit of suspense for the unexpected drop of the EP's second track, "Weirdos."  This tune is itself a reminiscent of a dream sequence carrying an ominous vibe with low-end rumbles, spliced drum edits, eerie reverberating brass and hard hitting rave stabs.  The climax of the journey lies in "Dirty Tricks," a thundering amen thrasher boasting old school dnb ammunition with hair-raising percussion sampling an unrelenting knock on the door.  Still the ominous mood relents with drum edits and FX of the electro-acoustic tastes, using sounds familiar to the bass-binger's ears only in an entirely unique and smashing arrangement, both suspenseful and vibey.  The fourth track entitled, "Rain On Me" encompasses Theory's truly holistic sound providing a cool and sexy, soothing and uplifting denouement.  Theory weaves a jazzy melodic masterpiece with sensual vocals and saxophone; a peaceful ending to the Solstice EP, dedicated to and representative of an adventure on the longest day of the year.  The ending to such an adventure never sounded sweeter.
