A new year welcomes a new adventure for DJ Times' America's Best DJ Markus Schulz. Concluding his storied Scream project, he immediately embarks on a fresh concept; but one with roots embodied throughout his career.
 
When examining the building blocks of the Miami native's career, several cities hold significant resonance. And in an effort to intrinsically link the various municipals, each month in the 2015 calendar will be highlighted by a new instrumental production; with the title dedicated to a particular city or event.
 
The freshman choice for Markus is the city he calls home; and a location which has housed some of dance music's greatest moments from Winter Music Conference and beyond - Bayfront.
 
Home of the legendary Club Space, home of the epic Ultra Music Festival, and home of the ever-moving Groove Cruise, Markus' contributions to all three institutions is vast. Bayfront embodies their collective qualities - the dark and sinister ascent towards a phase of euphoria and power.

Last month, Markus Schulz transported us to South Beach’s sexy “Bayfront (Miami)”. For February’s installment of Schulz’s ambitious “City Series” concept, he teams up with Tom Boxer to descend upon a city rich in art, architecture, and culture. This time, the Romanian capital of Bucharest is under focus, with its track titled “Bine Făcut” which translates to ‘well done’.

As one of the phoenix cities of the dance music industry, “Bine Făcut (Bucharest)” explores its deep historical heritage. Teaming up with well-respected Romanian producer, Tom Boxer, the single combines an interestingly brooding melody with sinister basslines for a maximum dance-floor effect.

A recent stay in the Romanian capital for America's Best DJ 2014, Markus Schulz, coincided with the country's recent presidential elections, sparking scenes of jubilation amongst the residents. Whilst walking the streets and soaking up the feelings of hope and desire for strong bonds and relations, the events acted as an inspirational catalyst for Markus; sensing an emotion of achievement and accomplishment by the natives, an aspect he felt important to spread to a worldwide audience through his musical vision. Some 24 hours later, he found himself in the studio with Boxer procuring a sound profound enough to encapsulate the country's developments, intertwined with memorable gigs throughout the years.

“Bine Făcut (Bucharest)” follows the first release from the “City Series,” entitled “Bayfront (Miami).” For the past eight years Markus has created a mix compilation and dedicated it to one city that inspired him that year. He mixes things up this year with his “City Series” which will see a new track each month that’s dedicated to a city that he’ll be playing at during that month. Schulz will record elements of the live show and utilize sounds of the venue to complete the forthcoming compilation titled Markus Schulz World Tour 2015.

With the first quarter of Markus Schulz’s twelve month city series journey complete, the appraisals continue to mount. Following tributes to Miami, Bucharest, and most recently San Francisco, his focus remains in the state of California for the month of April. However, this particular spotlight welcomes a new adventure.

Along with good friend Ferry Corsten, Markus embarked on one of the highest accolades for any performing artist - showcasing one’s talents at the legendary Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio across two weekends.

In tribute, Markus highlights the enormous movement of electronic music in North America and beyond, catalyzed by a fledgling generation and yielding a new dimension of sonic emission. This Generation is for those hedonistic, feel-good moments, which can be enjoyed through the radio medium as much as the outdoor ambiance.

Regarded as the European equivalent of Miami Music Week, the annual Amsterdam Dance Event festivities have grown to become one of the most important weeks of the year for clubbers and industry members. For Markus Schulz, the city of Amsterdam encompasses layers vital to his own career story. 

The Dutch capital has already been subject to a full city series compilation back in 2008; and when the concept of Markus' 2015 production series came to fruition, Amsterdam had many reasons to be considered. 

Moving from the peace of the canals, Markus' representation is a more nocturnal affair, in a city famed for its Red Light District. Made specifically as a liveset opener, the piercing stabs and throbbing bassline is overwhelmed with a spine tingling melody that turns the darkness into the bright lights of the stage.

Dancing in the Red Light will be an essential for Amsterdam and beyond.
