What’s not to love about Monkey Safari? The duo from Halle, Germany have been favorites of ours for as long as we can remember. In terms of Desert Hearts lore, their song Hi Life was the song that played when we celebrated our first Sunday Sunrise 2.5 years ago. It’s been an anthem at our parties ever since and every time it’s played we’re transported back to that glorious morning in the Mojave. To have Monkey Safari finally play our party was like a dream come true for us and they delivered on a monumental scale. The Sunday love vibes at our Spring Festival ‘15 couldn’t have been better as they crushed their 4pm time slot between Justin Jay and Rodriguez Jr. The party and vibe couldn’t have been better as the Desert Hearts Community surprised Sven and Lars with 100+ monkey and banana suits for the occasion. Ana has been keeping busy of late, teaming up with the likes of IRA, Rafael Frost and Tenishia as well as releasing her own ‘Ever True’ compilation, one of our favourites. Now it’s the turn of Russian producer Aurosonic to lend his considerable talents and combine with Ana to give us ‘The Force of The Blow’.

Memories in music and everlasting impressions, two ideas at heart of the debut studio LP ‘Scars’ by ilan Bluestone. A leading figure in the trance and electronic music scene for the last 5 years, the British producer has performed at the likes of Madison Square Gardens, Red Rocks and Wembley Arena, is a regular in the sets of Above & Beyond, Armin van Buuren and Kaskade, and has notched up 10 #1 singles in the Beatport Trance charts along the way.

The follow up to 2016’s ‘Bigger Than Love’ and recent favourite ‘Frozen Ground’, new single ’Scars’ reunites ilan with singer / songwriter Giuseppe De Luca. A dubstep-trance hybrid, ‘Scars’ takes his sound out of the traditional 4/4 world for the first time, yet retains ilan’s flair for heartfelt melodic productions.

“Giuseppe and I started with a blank canvas for this one. I laid down some chords in the studio and Giuseppe spent some time writing lyrics with me in California. The style change happened fairly organically, there’s a lot of power in the words he wrote and I wanted the drama of the music to reflect that”, explained ilan. “I’ve always tried to make music that leaves an impression on my fans and that was the inspiration for the record and ultimately the album”.

We're pretty much as big of Andreas Henneberg fans as it gets. Out of all the artists we've brought out to Desert Hearts Festival, Andreas has been one of the artists who's vibed with our family the most. When he asked if we wanted to bring out his side project, The Glitz, alongside production partner Daniel Nitsch, we were frothing at the mouth. Not only had The Glitz released some of our favorite tracks over the last decade, but they'd released their own standout EP on Desert Hearts Records in March of 2016. It was a no brainer that we wanted their vibe at the festival. Unfortunately at the last second, Andreas came down with an ungodly sickness and informed us he wasn't going to be able to make it. Luckily for him, his partner Daniel held it the fuck down and completely destroyed the Desert Hearts dance floor. Prepare yourself to be transported back to midnight on Friday night at Desert Hearts Festival 2017. Enjoy!

Common Ground kicks off in cinematic style with ‘The Inconsistency Principle’. Things then move to the dance floor with recent favourites ‘My Own Hymn’ and ‘Northern Soul’, debuted by Above & Beyond at their sold out ABGT250 festival. OceanLab siren Justine Suissa shines on the groove heavy ‘Naked’, while A&B mainstay Zoë Johnston lends her voice to the sun-soaked ‘Sahara Love’. ‘Happiness Amplified’ features a rapturous refrain delivered by the unmistakable voice of Richard Bedford, before a change in gear for the progressive ‘Is It Love? (1001)’. The slow burning ‘Cold Feat’ is another poignant moment from Justine Suissa, with Marty Longstaff tackling the uncertainties of life in ‘Tightrope’. ‘Alright Now’s' message of perseverance in the toughest of times dove tails with ‘Bittersweet & Blues’ reflections on absence and abandonment. Stripping things back to the band’s acoustic core, the stunning ‘Always’ is an optimistic Zoë Johnston-led ballad. The title track, ‘Common Ground,’ premiered at Ultra Miami 2017, is a final, thought provoking instrumental bookend to the journey.

The release of Common Ground coincides with a tour of the same name - Above & Beyond’s most ambitious global tour to date. North American shows presented by T-Mobile are on sale now, with further worldwide dates to follow.
