Helix / Två Fontäner, like his previous release, Snow Sketch / Visions, is a 17+ minute slow burning exploration of ambience and rhythm.  Taking cues from the likes of Floating Points, Four Tet and Beacon, the tracks melt Tartaglione's specific brand of atmosphere with a well rounded beat.

Like the shape of it's namesake, Helix twists clanging melodic lines around a mess of white noise and a persistent backbeat.  The track eventually evolves to calm with a sidestick, allowing Två Fontäner's energetic intro and droning background to follow.

Helix / Två Fontäner is the first of a number of releases this year for Planète - who looks to solidify his status as one of Australia's most intriguing producers over the coming months.

Manchester based Pále, aka Leo Marcus, has made some serious waves this year, delicately blending spacious melodies with pounding low end to produce consistently forward thinking house music.

After dropping his superb Why’d You Even Say? EP on Fat! Records back in January, along with the brilliant Silverstair on Four40 and his ridiculously huge remix of Mak & Pasteman’s Jungle Juice Pále has not only showcased his impressive variety but also genuinely established himself as one of the most exciting youngsters around at the moment. 

This 3 track EP kicks off with Catacombs, which balances punchy bass stabs with ethereal vocal samples and skittering percussion to create undoubtedly one of Pále’s best tracks to date, something that manages to be fully dance-floor orientated whilst retaining a sense of blissful serenity. Oak Music opens with typically atmospheric pads and beautiful strings before falling into a void, the bassline pulsating ominously, accompanied by sparse clicks and an emotive melody before another breakdown of near-euphoric tranquility. The release is perfectly rounded off with Orchidea, a luscious sepia-tinted slow jam, or as Pále himself would describe it - “slow beats for tired feet.”

Pále - Orchidea

The occasional fisherman and graduated psychologist Vlad aka Monokle is responsible for the third LP on Ki Records. The Title of the Record is „Saints“ and it will be available on Vinyl, CD and Digital.
It’s already the third LP release for the 26 year old producer from St. Petersburg. He’s been making music since the mid-00s and has a massive creative output. As he says, he takes his inspiration from silence and Eric Satie is one of his biggest idols. His favorite label is Warp, so it’s no wonder that some of the nine tracks do have reminiscences with the British label (e.g. Holt Found, Arrows or Homesick). But instead of quoting the sound of his big idols, he gives it an individual touch and continues the evolution of that certain kind of sound. His main Influences were IDM and Glitch, before he became more in touch with Ambient and Drone. All these different influences can be heard as sound fragments in his tracks. Like in a kaleidoscope, these fragments unite; get torn apart and in the end melt together again. Monokle says that “Music with simple rhythms and catchy beats gets him bored pretty quick”. So he got rid of static listening and producing structures, to go his own way when creating music. The Vinyl version of Saints got three bonus tracks in the form of remixes by Fybe:one, WOLS and Milinal. The illustrations for the cover were made by Argentinean artist Carolina Nino. Just like Monokle she works with different shapes and pieces, bringing them together in a new context.

Monokle - Embers

Marley Carroll’s auspicious start as a classically trained percussionist and award-winning turntablist propelled him into the limelight at an early age. Carroll’s signature style of exquisitely-detailed atmospheric dance music is adored by fans for its powerful emotional resonance and highly rated by peers who cite him as an abiding influence, evoking favorable comparisons to genre luminaries like Four Tet, Caribou and Boards of Canada.

Onstage, he delivers a raw and improvisatory adaptation of his records to spellbound audiences, combining sampling, drum pads and live looping with stunning and often unorthodox turntable skills. He has shared stages with Floating Points, Mura Masa, and Bonobo and has notched acclaimed appearances at iconic music festivals like Coachella and Moogfest. 

His latest EP, 2022's Voices, was inspired by the heartache of missing raving during lockdown and wears its UK influences proudly. Like the best underground dance music of this era, Voices combines the driving intensity of the dance floor with the luminous nostalgia of late-night afters. The emotional resonance of Voices lingers long after a first listen and it seems destined to become both a DJ staple and essential listening for fans of artists like DJ Seinfeld, Godford and Fred Again. Voices captured the attention of BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6, Radio Ibiza, KCRW and KEXP and provides a brilliant anticipatory window onto what’s next for Carroll’s sound.
