The story of Oakes & Lennox is one of those rare story’s that reads more like a clever feel good movie script played out on the big screen, rather than real life itself.

It all started quite a few years ago when Christopher Oakes & Blake Lennox begun a strong friendship that would lead them to the present day. It is an age old and almost ironic tale that these two ‘found and entered into a passionate love with electronic music upon discovering the club scene once they turned 18’. However for these guys it rings quite true. In a scene completely saturated with young up and coming DJ’s, Oakes & Lennox have come through ahead of most in leaps and bounds.

Not only have they established themselves within the industry, but the magnitude and acceleration to which they have is a true testament to their talent, work ethic, and knack for knowing how and what to play to any sort of room. Don’t take my word for it though, just look at the accolades;
Ranked by In The Mix as one of the nation’s top 20 DJ’s two years running (Currently 16th & 13th in 2011 including a top 5 spot for NSW), long standing residents of NSW #1 club night Usual Suspects at Soho, Regular spots at premier venues such as The Ivy, Marquee, World Bar along with regular performances at major festivals such as Future Music Festival , Parklife, & Stereosonic. Such festivals and clubs shows have seen the guys share the stage with Steve Angello, Afrojack, David Guetta, Boys Noize, Wolfgang Garner, Nero, Bingo Players, Sidney Samson, Laidback Luke, and plenty more.

With a sound strongly rooted in the big room house realm, Oakes & Lennox have successfully been able to incorporate elements of electro and tech to create a sound that club kids have been able to instantly identify these guys with. Declaring a list of influences that include Daft Punk, Fatboy Slim, The Swedish House Mafia, Eric Prydz, Derrick Carter, Danny Howells, John Dahlback, Dubfire, Sebastian Leger, Dirty South and Deadmau5 whilst paying homage to some of Sydney’s leading local talent in Ben Morris, Nukewood, John Glover, Raye Antonelli and Brenden Fing it is little wonder why their musical scope is wide, vary and mature well past their age like a good fine wine.

While the above would read like an enormous accomplishment for a long running established DJ, the most exciting part to this tale is that the boys have just started what is sure to be an epic and fruitful journey. Though they may be baby faced and barely legally able to drink in the United States, their stage presence and ability as artists holds a level of maturity and depth that most DJ’s wish they encompassed.
