August 2025 Currently on residency in Italy ! 
These are 3 short sketches using field recordings captured around Montegiovi, Tuscany. With these little works I am experimenting freely with what can be produced from each days sounds -  manipulating them and stiching them back together with the aim of producing a long format work at the end of the residency. 
I am truly thankful for this opportunity that has been provided for me by the Salamanca Arts Centre in Tasmania and Cultivate Projects/La Baldi residency in Italy and The USA. 
And of course the wonderful people of Montegiovi ! 

Tuscany Experiments 1 - 3

While I often struggle to compose, this piece simply arrived and showed itself while sitting at the desk in February.  It is loosely based on an Venezuelan pasaje rhythm.  This work was written for the International Saito Conducting Workshop in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, and was premiered at the final performance on July 26, 2025.

The Burrow, a story of an animal that has built itself a magnificent burrow, but who lives in fear that it will be found and invaded, so it spends most of its time outside the burrow keeping watch over it.

The Hope Cycle: Movement One (Dark Night of the Soul)

This is the last in a set of solo violin works. Each work in this set was intended to emphasize certain aspects of modern music that an undergraduate student might encounter without throwing everything at them at once. This is the one that emphasize technical challenges. 

This recording is from the Cortona Sessions for New Music 2016, performed by Ari Streisfeld.
