Dance Your Name da inicio a su serie de podcasts, y para la ocasión contamos con un gran invitado, quien nos ha mandado una sublime sesión directamente desde Rotterdam. Hablamos de Patrick Marsman, un nombre que ha empezado a hacer ruido entre los que gustan de coleccionar discos, ya que este joven emprendedor está detrás de dos prodigiosos sellos discográficos: Pinkman y Charlois. Ambas plataformas se encuentran detrás de una gama de talentosos productores, tales como Xosar, Drvg Cvltvre, Innershades, Antenna, Dollkraut, Roberto Auser y Timothy J. Fairplay, entre muchos más (les recomendamos ampliamente echarse un clavado en el bandcamp de ambos sellos). 

Encima de su extenuante labor publicando música increíble, Marsman se ha hecho de una portentosa reputación como DJ, cualquiera que lo haya escuchado tocar, sabe lo que es un paseo por la pista de baile con nuestro nuestro amigo holandés. En este mundo, en el cual cada semana aparecen nombres nuevos, es raro encontrar a alguien que combine selección y técnica; Patrick lo hace de manera excepcional, pero encima de todo logra transmitir un feeling único e inconfundible, que lo ha situado en un lugar muy especial dentro de nuestros corazones. 

Recuerden que éste es sólo un preámbulo de lo que nos espera el próximo 13 de mayo. Llevamos mucho tiempo esperando a nuestro invitado, y les garantizamos que será una noche que dejará huella en sus vidas.

We asked djs and acts who played or will play at one of our partys to contribute some of their music in order to give you an impression of what we love and what to expect from Young Shields musicwise.

We´are very happy to introduce you Marsman for our first podcast. He is the founder of Charlois and Pinkman Records and responsible for a package of strong releases throuhout the last years by the likes of Black Merlin, DJ Overdose, Timothy J. Fairplay and others.
His DJ sets range from dark disco, to raw electro, wavy acid and machine driven techno. Exactly the way we like it!

All of this is taking place on his acknowledged label Pinkman and the slightly more recent founded imprint Charlois which is more dedicated on the left of the first label in subject. Being apart of the new wave of westcoast labels it’s easy to notice the same DIY vibe known from legendary platforms such as Viewlexx & Bunker.

"I really had fun recording this session, thanks so much for this opportunity! Because almost the entire Pinkman tour we had planned for this year got cancelled due to the virus, I hadn’t touched a DJ set for over 2 months. I went to Operator with an USB stick filled with music I’d never played before to record the mix. My approach was to do a set I would play at the club, because I truly miss that at the moment. The selection is a mixture of upcoming Pinkman releases, promos I received from befriended artists / labels and stuff I recently bought."

Patrick Marsman, AKA Marsman is a very busy man. Back in 2013 the label Pinkman was first given form with Drvg Cvltvre’s Offender Status ‎E.P. over the following years Pinkman has gone on to release music from a wealth of talented artists including Antenna, DJ Overdose, Identified Patient, Alessandro Adriani, Xosar, Black Merlin and our very own Ernestas Sadau, among many others. Pinkman has since been complimented with the materialisation of sub-label Charlois and the tougher edged white label series Pinkman Broken Dreams. Marsman has also been responsible for instigating and realising Rotterdam’s very own digital radio station, Operator along with Osman Bas, Ofra Beenen, Jeff van Hoek and Jorn de Vries in 2017, with Operator now sitting in the swirling, luminescent kernel of Rotterdam's’ cultural firma-ment. A firm Tsunami favourite, Marsman is the epitome of DT style: creative, vigorous, fiercely idiosyn-cratic and relentlessly DIY. We’re ecstatic therefore to be able to present our latest podcast and interview courtesy of this exponent of quality underground electronic music and hard working architect of the con-temporary Rotterdam underground.
