The song that launched a thousand gifs. I made this track in 2004, which is around when I started putting animations on the internet. At the time my computer was always running out of memory, much like my own brain, so this was a kind of nostalgic reminiscence of a life lived mostly playing video games.

Sickickin' Evil Version

First things first. I just joined Splice.com and this track was my second remix, so I'm learning and make no claims that what your hearing is by any means, a masterpiece or a work of art lol... on that note I'll say that it took me over a day to decide if I wanted to attempt to remix this track because in my opinion it was perfect in the first place. Sickick set the bar so high on this Sickickin' track that I thought it would be like trying to rearrange and produce Stairway to Heaven By Led Zeppelin again and believe that's it's going to be better then the original, real talk...that's never going to happen by me or anyone on this planet! So folks, that being said, I didn't make a lot of changes to this track...believe it or not. My approach was to keep the 80.5 bpm and the vocals and the layout the same because for real it was perfect the way it was in the original...so I started with all his beats, percussion and bass tracks and mixed them together blending them and re amped them through a over driven amp and 4x10 cab in a small room with a typical guitar pedal board setup and put effects to make it sound like a crazy lead guitarist on illegal, on the down low drugs lol... used eq. and a compressor and pushed it a little in the background so my beat would blend with it...I used his kick just the way it was and came up with a beat that makes it sound like the drummer had to kick drums that have different tones. I also kept his bass the same but added a DI bass fill in two sections to bring out his off the hook vocals and took out the percussion mix during those sections just having my beat and bass with nothing else playing , really to give the ears a break...hehe... from my over driven guitar fills with all the knobs turned to 11... for real! I went dark on this track because of the dark subject matter and used a recording of an air raid horn because its in the same key (Eb) that this track is, to simulate a lead guitar over the rhythm guitars. I think it's cool, but you decide for yourself. I recorded Pennywise from the movie "It"...from the opening scene. internally in my (Daw) and eq. it to blend with the mix...I had two tracks for Pennywise's because his laugh needed to have effects to blend during the vocal track when he said his name. I also, duplicated the kick drum and bass tracks and eq, them so they can be heard on laptops and devices without headphones and adjust the output so I can hear it on the device without it effecting the main mix, after all over 90% of listeners hear music on their device so why not give them ear candy lol... So I might have forgotten some details, but I think I covered the major stuff except to say I used Mixcraft 8 (Daw) to map out the beats and to put my fills in... I really use Reaper for everything but Mixcraft is easier to layout ideas...it also has a kick butt multi compressor that I use a lot for tricky tracks.
