‘Admiraal van Delfshaven the 1st’ is a wearable Antenna receiver which picks up different invisible phenomenas from its surroundings and makes them audible through electronic sound. The shipmast-inspired construction is entirely built from materials found in Rotterdam Harbour. The un-/foldable wooden beams serve as platforms for a selection of receivers which have different configurations to convert electromagnetic fields and wind energy into sound. The picked up signals vary in the range of maritime and aviation communication frequency bands as well as urban- and naturally generated signals of the environment. The signals of the specific location, modulated by the wearer through operating different mechanisms of the costume, each time result in a unique composition.

‘Admiraal van Delfshaven the 1st’ is part of the series of costumes developed in The Netherlands for Magnetoceptia, a collaborative project by Patrizia Ruthensteiner and Dewi de Vree.

The Warp Weighted Skidder Maiden depicts the case of a baltic birch tree cut down and taken out of its natural environment, tilt from the vertical into the horizontal position in order to serve as the mast for a vast aerial complex. The fictious agricultural machine is equipped with weights of red apples and stones to provide gravitational thrust, to balance the slight disequilibrium and in order to faciliate the enticement of evil spirits.

The heavy trunk is exposed on the open field regarded as an arena and set in motion purely through the performers force, beginning with the act of lifting and subsequently balancing it on her shoulders while rotating around her own axis to evoke audible change through the stereo effect of the antenna.

The Warp Weighted Skidder Maiden is part of the Estonian Episode of Magnetoceptia, a series of antenna based costumes for performance and installations. The project is a collaboration between Patrizia Ruthensteiner and Dewi de Vree

“In My Escape I Look For A Weapon”, a declaration of intent in an ever-progressing struggle for existence. Urging not to surrender while also calling for empathy and comprehension. Haunter co- founder, DJ, producer and writer Francesco Birsa Alessandri, under his Sense Fracture alias, launches a call to arms to all resisting forces and collective efforts for progress, freedom and equality, riding a punishing, uncompromising sound through an unquiet harmonic body: hard-edged yet unapologetic about its own vulnerability. The dancefloor’s potential for political affirmation and the ambivalent nature of escapism are the forces that sharpen the Fracture. Channeling the writings of Kathy Acker, Amy Ireland and Mark Fisher as well as bits of rave extremism, breakcore, dub, grime and trap, Alessandri aims to reflect and infect reality by challenging the structure of conventional club narratives. It is by enhancing the nonlinear, abrasive qualities dwelling between the beats that They build a critique of language and power relations.
