Here's another exclusive track premiere here on Deep House London. So far we've brought you the first plays of tracks by the brilliant Fur Coat and super talented Tim Green. Now we have someone who is considered by many to be one of our industry's big dogs, a man who has probably contributed more to our scene and to other superstar DJs' careers than anyone else and someone who has universal respect. We're talking about the mighty Martin Buttrich and to say it's an honour to have the world premiere of his brand new track for Canadian label My Favorite Robot is an understatement!

The protagonists of our next release literally fit to the medium's color: We are happy to announce Tiefschwarz's first appearance on our label which is carved in black rills, three years after they mixed the "Watergate 09" compilation for us.

The A-side starts with the Tiefschwarz Extended of this collaboration between the two brothers and Ruede Hagelstein: This version of "Fire It Out" is a percussive track with the intense pull we love from Tiefschwarz. The original is more vocal and melody based and is included in the digital EP package.

dOP also contribute two remixes, both in the digital "Girl" and the pressed on vinyl "Boy" version. Next to the latter, you'll find another Remix: Fango took "Fire It Out" quite literally and interpreted it as a perfect techno track. The four remixes are a great supplement to the already versatile original. The 19th Watergate vinyl will be released on July 28th on wax and digital.

After the massive positive reactions for the first release from the Bella Avgvsta series with which we left the old behind us and said hello to the new year ,we are now ready to move on with part two.
Perfectly fitting to current winter season, Daniel puts for us something really hot in the fridge.

The A-Side „Hot in the Fridge“ skips the obligatory intro and transports the listener directly into a dark prime-time techno cloud. It starts straight with a whipping nervous rhythm section that shows the way and gives direction into a dense haze of sound wherefrom the deep bass driven main theme rises to the surface and encloses you directly with its wafting sounds.
Sweet but dangerous.

A playful ringing innocent trickle that provide the image of safety, before it ropes you into it’s energetic swirl of sound.

AMBIVALENT is the monicker of DJ and producer Kevin McHugh: originally from the US, he has since found a new home base in Berlin where he produces trim and powerful techno for kinetic crowds. Accordingly, Ambivalent releases have found their way to classic dance imprints such as Ovum or Cocoon Recordings, and it’s with the latter that he recently found much acclaim for the „Daylights“ single, expanding a great run these past months with his La-4a analog project – now, he joins the Speicher ranks for SPEICHER 92: WHYOU is a rather muscular affair, boasting potent Moog riffs and a hungry TR 909. The flip side hosts a vigorous, hypnotic remix from Kompakt head MICHAEL MAYER – a personal hero of McHugh’s going back at least 15 years. Double headliner wax, with only the wheat and none of the chaff.

The 22nd edition of the esteemed Body Language series arrives in 2020, to be helmed by the ever excellent Pezzner. In advance of that there will be a series of special EPs with tracks taken from it, kicking off with this, EP1, featuring four exclusive new cuts from the man himself.

A long time label associate, Pezzner writes, composes and teaches electronic music to a consistently high standard and releases it on the likes of Visionquest and Freerange. He has been right at the heart of Get Physical for a couple of years now, and for that reason is an obvious choice for the next Body Language mix.

The first of the four tracks on offer here is ‘Saint Andre’, a cosmic symphony of spy theme style synths and pads all tethered to a deeply buried but propulsive groove. The track builds in suspense and tension with panning vocal sounds adding an air of intrigue. ‘The Break Up’ is just as brilliant but much heavier, with weighty kicks making for a dub undercurrent while a scattering of toms and haunting chords build next to a pixelated acid line.

‘Bongo Relâmpago’ finds Pezzner link with Seattle based, Tilted Records boss Jon Lee to cook up masterfully unhinged grooves with big drums and clattering percussion. It's a mysterious cut that compels you into the unknown. There is a hint of future disco to the rattling chords of ‘I Am You’ which roll over percolating toms, drums and hits to uplifting, rump-wiggling effect.

These are four typically well produced and effective tunes from the masterful Pezzner and give an early insight into the album ahead.

Martin Buttrich is famously as fluent behind a mixing console as in front of a virtual drum kit. That technical prowess, combined with a fascination for music of every shape, has resulted in outstanding releases on influential labels such as Planet E, Four:Twenty, Cocoon, Poker Flat, Nervous and Desolat. He’s also put his sonic thumbprint on many big ticket artists, notably receiving a Grammy nomination for a Tori Amos remix in 2003. Such diverse musical horizons are rare. While other prolific artists may have slowly watered down their music, Buttrich’s star has risen in diametric opposition. His vision has become more and more condensed, more and more crystallised. Flipping and puncturing grooves in a live setting is a snap for him, and he’s entranced audiences at festivals like Time Warp and Creamfields, at temples of boom such as Fabric (London), Womb (Tokyo), Cocoon (Frankfurt), Panorama Bar (Berlin) and Amnesia (Ibiza) and at worldwide Desolat Experience parties with Loco Dice.

Buttrich’s journey into electronic music began in clubs in Berlin and Hannover at the dawn of the ‘90s, when post-Summer of Love-Europe began to swing to its own hypnotic, machine-like groove. At 18 years old he began experimenting with production as X-Rotation (with Daniel Bross), which led to the projects Rhythm Assault, Sounds of Life and Phunk Diggazs (with engineer Andy Bolleshon).

Buttrich began a notorious collaboration with his then co-worker at Peppermint Jam distribution, Timo Maas, in the mid-‘90s (they worked the telephones together). After setting up his first studio in the basement of the Peppermint Park studio building, the partnership led to over 100 co-productions and remixes that included Madonna, Muse, Fatboy Slim. Josh Wink and Green Velvet. Buttrich has produced funk legend Bootsy Collins, while switching the patterns for artists including Tom Jones, Kelis, Moloko, Depeche Mode, Placebo, Yello, War and Roger Sanchez. His Azzido Da Bass “Dooms Night” remix with Timo Maas hit the UK top ten charts.
 
All the while he created an impressive library of beats and collected an arsenal of music production equipment for his studio in Timetools, a studio complex founded in 1997 in Hannover with a group of musicians. Buttrich is happy with the subtle crunch of an SP-12 sampler and the ‘smoky’ vibe of his analog mixing desk – adding a bass guitar or other instrument when necessary. But he’s not above having fun with a laptop either: approaching music programs as if they were video games. He doesn’t rely on any one machine or music composition technique, and his array of outboard gear is mouth-wateringly state of the art.
But he never loses touch with the gritty, human side of music, and the environments that it is played in.

Another key musical partnership, with Loco Dice, begun in 2002, undoubtedly inspired Buttrich to delve deeper into the musical histories that first lured him towards after-dark melodies. In a short space of time they’d built up a deep discography creating an era-defining sound in the process. They spent more than half a year living in New York in 2006/2007, with half of Buttrich’s studio set up in a rickety hideaway in Brooklyn that looked out over Manhattan’s vistas. Between late night production sessions and snowstorms, their Desolat label came to life.

Having his debut solo album Crash Test released on Desolat in early 2010, Martin Buttrich is taking his vision to the road, fusing wild imagination with solid musical architecture, cherry-picked inspiration with true perfection of his musical craft. 

Since then constantly on tour, in 2011 Martin Buttrich still has dropped a remarkable collection of music - productions like “Fire Files” EP on Desolat or remixes for Marco Carola and Lee Curtis amongst others.

Currently based in LA, Martin Buttrich is working on his second artist album and a jazz project called The Stoned Autopilot.
