Univac is the electro focussed project by Rafael M. Espinosa from Barcelona and are extremely pleased to welcome him to the series. He is also known for his techno-industrial project Geistvorm. The Univac project focuses on analogic sounds with a deep influence from The Hague and robotic electro styles. This veteran producer released his first EP on the iconic Bunker Records as well as David Vunk's Moustache Records, 30D Records, Femur Records, Diffuse Reality, as well as a recent release on New York-based Melodize. He also recently did an incredible performance as part of Pinkman's District series. His selection is a relentless composition that embodies his menacing and uncompromising approach to electro that we just can't get enough of. Lock in!

..just a breaks jam I did a while ago in Live 9 and my APC20. Thats how I do my breaks mixes normally....this mix is aimed at the b.boys/girls for their practices.

1990 really was the year i started revising hard about House & Techno after deciding i would never make it as a hip hop Dj. Some of the 1st house i would encounter would be productions from the US. Detroit Techno at the time seemed quite abstract, Chicago house although home of acid was just too vocal for me, but the sound of new york grabbed me (maybe something to do with the sound emerging coming from the debris of hip hop, freestyle electro & breakbeat culture).
That 1st wave would hijack a lot of those existing references.
Frankie Bones, Tommy Musto & Lenny Dee would be my guide & the sounds they produced were like an amplified echo of those beats but with added energy. House music but written off the back of B Boy Law. Include a bunch of whacked out edits (again, reminiscent of New York Godfathers like The Latin Rascals, Chep Nunez & Omar Santana)so you had no clue what was what & for me this was my nirvana..........This mix is a homage to those 1st house records that had me obsessing & the original NY tape edit style .........If your expecting "Hardcore" you'll find none here......but this WAS "My First Hardcore"..... & those "Amen Breakbeat" samples in THESE tunes would be the gene that would influence UK Rave....and create UK Breakbeat Hardcore......then Jungle....then Drum & Bass.........EVERYTHING comes from somewhere...Enjoy :) xxx
