My track selection always corresponds to my entire, current database of tracks (approx. 4,400, 02.07.22) genres from Ambient, Techno, Main Time, Organic House, Melodie Techno, Science fiction House from 1988 to today. 97% of the tracks are AIFF, some WAV and MP3 320 Kbits. I buy my tracks at Beatport, or similar portals.

What distinguishes my interpretation of a Dj gig in the club, with friends, for radio, streaming?

I have decided not to prepare for a gig or a mix in advance at all. 
When I buy new tracks, they are added to the database. Tracks are only sorted by date of creation, not by genre, etc. 
I know very few selected tracks from my favourite artists. 
I select my next track 95% randomly by quickly spinning through often hundreds of tracks and selecting it at random. Assigning the right deck.........THATS ALL.
Tracks are mostly not pre-planned, but roped off directly from Cue Start. This is often done in a loop....
Everything else, like when transitions, bridges, breaks, drawing, energy, athmo, statement and interpretation, mixing happens NOW in that moment, on up to 4 tracks simultaneously over minutes. 
I transform pumping bass runs into filigree, delicate sound carpets that warm the skin. Through the seemingly easy playing, the changing of sound energies, an always new, seemingly inzined, familiar and at the same time completely new build-up, of known and unknown interpreters, arises. Each set emerges from itself and its unknown players. I take what I get and create energy that enchants and captivates the listener.
The tension that you might know from Tetris in Level 100. No thinking, no conscious decision, just bringing the magic of the moment to life through his hands.

Die Pandemiesituation hielt so einige - meist weniger schöne, Überraschungen bereit. Mit unserem heutigen Podcast No.54 wollen wir uns aber den schönen ‘Überbleibseln’ jener Zeit widmen! 
Anne Hou (Unter Uns Festival) liebt Tanzen, elektronische Musik und unser allseits bekanntes, facettenreiches Nachtleben. Als das alles plötzlich nicht mehr möglich war, beschloss sie, die Dinge selbst in die Hand zu nehmen, besorgte sich DJ-Equipment und brachte kurzum die Atmosphäre, die ihr so fehlte, ins eigene Wohnzimmer! Getrieben von Sehnsucht und mit der Unterstützung ihres Freundes Niklaas, dauerte es nicht lang und die Basics saßen. Ob im Club oder auf dem eigens organisierten Unter Uns Festival: Anne hat den Sprung vom Floor hinter die Decks geschafft und blickt mittlerweile auf den einen oder anderen Gig zurück. Im Gedächtnis geblieben ist ihr jeder einzelne davon, wie z.B. auch ihr 1. Mai Gig im bulbul: „Erst kürzlich durfte ich im Kreuzberger Hinterhof in den Sonnenuntergang spielen - Einlassstop. Sowas vergisst man einfach nicht.” Dabei verzaubert ihr Sound mit genauso viel Facettenreichtum, wie es unsere Szene selbst tut: von Disco und House über Indie Dance bis hin zu Melodic und seit neuestem auch Afro House - Anne spielt, was auf Anhieb eine Emotion auslöst. Auch verspielte, energiegeladene Elemente finden hierbei immer wieder Einzug in ihre Sets und so kommt  z.B. auch ihr Faible für feminine außergewöhnliche Vocals nicht zu kurz.

BIO:

Martin surely can be described as legend of Nuremberg‘s electronic music scene. In 1992, at the age of 16, he discovered his passion for electronic music and began playing vinyl on two borrowed Technics turntables. During that time he completed an internship at a local radio station (Radio N1), where he soon was recognized for his Djing. 

First bookings as „Martin Martinez“, his former Dj name, at various events of the radio station like „N1 Sunday Dancehall“ and the weekly radio show „N1 Club Night“ followed, where he not only played vinyl with lots of heart, but also took over the moderation of the radio show.

Especially as a resident of the „N1 Rave Signal“ events, which took place at Volksbad, an abandoned Art Nouveau-Style bath, he soon gained a large fan base with his captivating techno and breakbeat sets and weekly played on stage with famous musicians like Sven Väth, Westbam, Carl Cox, Earth Nation, Tanith, Resistance D, Jens Lissat, Oliver Lieb and many more.

To spred his wings wider and take his immense passion for Djing to the next level, he changed his name to Martin Groovic in 1995 and soon played gigs in all major techno clubs in Franconia such as Boot, Dolphin Club, Paisley Park, Forum, Lancia Odeon, DUB Club and the Octagon in Eltmann and invitations to clubs in Munich and festivals in Italy followed.

In 1996 he and two partners founded the legendary TOS Club, where he organized weekly club nights and after hours and quickly became a well known musician in the Nuremberg techno scene for blowing up the dancefloors with his unique music style. 

His characteristics as a deliverer of music are within the inexhaustible dimensions of sound, creating imaginary dream worlds within his listeners and taking them on a journey full of depth, magic and desires – always with an unconditional love to music. His repertoire ranges from rhythmic, spherical house and techno sounds filled with lots of emotion to downtempo and acid sounds with the right drive to dance the nights away.

In 1998, after two successful years of TOS, the club mysteriously burned down and Martin moved to Munich. In 2000 he founded his family and took a time out for several years. During his break the love to music still accompanied him in private, but now the passion for Djing and the wish to create musical suspense grew strong again. And so he‘s back, more motivated than ever, presenting new monthly mixes on his Soundcloud. In the near future Martin Groovic will surely be seen and heard again in the clubs.
