Not only are we celebrating the 20th anniversary of the label. This is the 150th episode of our podcast series! That's 12,5 years of mixes from the left side of the dancefloor. For our jubilee we welcome Michael Mayer from Cologne. He is not only an amazing DJ, but also our distribution boss at Kompakt. Here's what he says about his mix:

"One fine day there was a package on my desk, inside a 7" single with good mood music on yellow vinyl, wrapped in a hand painted good mood cover. It was Pingipung 01, Peter Presto's "Es war Sommer" and it was love at first sight. That this flash in the pan would turn into a 20-year (business) relationship is one of the most beautiful stories you can experience in the music business. Pingipung is a beacon of DIY culture, fed by deep devotion to impossible music. I am very happy to be able to present this musical bouquet for their anniversary."

The idiosyncratic musical style and production practices by Sheldon, Sidney Thompson (aka Sid Le Rock) are shaped by the DIY electronic-music movement that has encouraged his creativity to develop and thrive since the late ’90s. This is a contributing factor to his impressive discography that currently stands at twelve albums under his various aliases, including Sid’s collaborations with artists from various fields and musical genres such as Depeche Mode, DJ Koze, Placebo, and persistent impressions of the journeys he has made throughout the world as a result of his live music performances.

His abounding talent and prolificacy hasn’t gone unnoticed, as Sid has regularly released on labels like Beachcoma, My Favourite Robot, Kompakt, Mute Records and Hafendisko. Likewise, the Toronto-born artist has been remixed by the likes of DJ Koze, Acid Pauli and Gui Boratto, while remixing Depeche Mode, Placebo, Gui Boratto, Fairmont, further underpinning his underground credibility. However, despite his solid studio credentials, he has never sought fame or attention, instead remaining devoted to his craft, an ethos that is fully manifested in his productions.

Nikita von Tiraspol, the enigmatic DJ, producer, and visionary behind Kontrapunkt, has carved out a distinct sonic identity from the heart of Leipzig, Cologne, and Vilnius’s underground. For years, Nikita honed his ear as a vinyl pressing engineer at r.a.n.d. muzik, an intimate position that immersed him daily in the cutting edge of unreleased music. This immersion ignited a deeper passion, and in 2017, Kontrapunkt was born – a label defying boundaries, weaving through a spectrum of genres from the industrial cadence of techno to the freewheeling spirit of House, Tribal Rhythms, Trance, Ambient, and Breakbeat.

Nikita's own productions reflect this restless exploration, a kaleidoscopic journey through sound. His discography includes the deeply introspective album “Entscheidungen” via mystictrax, the evocative album “Iki Pasimatymo!” released with Noorden, a trippy 3-step dance-floor remix for MARIA Die RUHE, and an upcoming EP with Vilnius-based singer Agnesa Martin, which pushes the envelope further, embodying his ethos of constant evolution.

Nikita von Tiraspol’s sets are rooted in a dynamic blend of genres – with a primary focus on House, Techno, Trance, and Afro-House – while seamlessly incorporating touches from all over the world when the moment calls for it. This versatility allows him to adapt to different environments while maintaining a clear, compelling sonic narrative.

Captain Mustache is a French music producer and DJ from Paris.

Since 2020, he has released music on some of the most respected labels in the electronic scene: Kompakt, Mobilee, Exploited, Permanent Vacation, Helena Hauff's Return To Disorder, and an album on John Digweed's Bedrock Records, with consistent support from top DJ's around the world.

As a true electronic music lover, he has collaborated with some electro icons (Dave Clarke, Arnaud Rebotini, Chicks on Speed, The Advent, Keith Tucker from AUX88...), adding an extra vocal dimension to his music.

In 2023 he reached a career milestone with a full album called "The Super Album" on the legendary label KOMPAKT Records, with the privilege to join the short list of artists having signed an LP on this label, such as Kölsch, Agents Of Time or WhoMadeWho.

In 2025 he's coming with a new album called "LUZ" on beloved Berlin's label MOBILEE, a new achievement for him as an artist and a special step in his career.

Martin Noise is a DJ / Producer from Buenos Aires, based in Barcelona, dedicated to the research and the experimentation of new sounds oriented to the dancefloor. From downtempo songs to listen at home, through music inspired by the new wave, the creative force of the jungle, the power of organic elements and psychedelic experimentation to the most convincing music for the club.

After playing and producing different rock, punk and post punk bands in his hometown, he launched his DJ career and after some years Djing he moved to Barcelona.
