About me…
Audiobook narrator and producer.
My name is Martin Lewis, I live in Hampshire in the UK. I love books, all kinds of books. There are so many to read that I always have several on the go. I have been reading books out loud all my life. Most of my recordings to date have been labours of love. My first self produced recording was of George R R Martin's A Game of Thrones, the first book in his A Song of Ice and Fire series. After reading all the books in the series, I decided that I needed to read them again. However, time is always the enemy and so I decided to give the audiobooks a go. I never really got on with the narrators performance of these novels, I found it inconsistent. Certain accents were over used and some of the characters sounded wrong. I wondered if I could do any better! My wife is a vocalist and a music producer with her own studio set up, so I decided to hijack her studio and record my own version. As A Game of Thrones is a fairly large novel, around a thousand pages; I had plenty of experience in learning how to perform, record, produce and master my version. My version will be for the ears of my son when he is old enough. He is currently four, so I have plenty of time to finish the other novels in the series.
I have also recorded extracts from novels such as Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel, Vernon God Little by DBC Pierre, from history and science books such as A History of Britain by Simon Schama and On The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin. I enjoy fiction and non fiction, modern and classics, books for children and adults.
