I finished this mixtape / EP, whatever it is, a few months ago. It’s a combination of demos I was working on that I loved playing out at shows the last year or so. Some old, some new - it’s a mix of all of the genres and styles that I’m feeling at the moment. Also, I really wanted to include interludes because I was always fascinated with them as a kid listening to CDs. vol2 in a few months !

Slime Recordings is proud to welcome K!NGS back to the label for his third release with the imprint, “Hold On”.

“Escape” brings back a similar energy from the producer’s former releases with a low-slung house groove informed by UKG aesthetics, combining a laconic male vocal with glittering melodies. As always with K!NGS work, there is a deep level of detail in each composition, taking the listener through several turns in the song’s journey.

“Hold On” feels like UK Garage but with a more relaxed tempo, mixing the genre’s percussive template with a melancholy female vocal and saccharine keys to create a beguiling hybrid track that will captivate your heart.

“Lost” sees another shift in style toward an 80s-inspired synthwave mood, merging hard-hitting drums against oscillating synth lines to give this cinematic soundtrack a true wide-screen feel.

“Never Again” rounds out the release on a similar tip to the opening track, but this time it’s a more dub-heavy affair, with warm bass pads working in among the beats to compliment the male vocal and draw the listener in to it’s confessional tone.
