Kia Waters is an R&B singer and songwriter born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. While growing up, Kia Waters was exposed to music at a very early age. Her father, who was from Nigeria, Africa and would play rhythmic African music throughout the house. She grew up listening to artists such as Fela Kuti and King Sunny Ade. She played a large influence in Kia’s early musical career. At the age of twelve, Kia began songwriting and strengthening her musical talents. At her high school graduation ceremony Kia performed America the beautiful to a large crowd of 300 guests, and instantly knew she want to be a performing artist.

Kia attended Mt Ida College to pursue a bachelors’ degree in business administration with the hopes of starting a career in the music business. While attending Mount Ida College she joined the Boston due hip-hop duo 102 South.  Kia joined members Sosa and Claudel and created melodic ballads and catchy rhythmic hooks for hip-hop and R&B songs. She began recording her material at Boston recording studios such as Cyber-sound and Sanctum sounds. Kia performed alongside 102 south members of the group and opened up for shows such as Lowell African festival and Mt Ida Apollo night. The group opened up for New York artist Maino at the Mt Ida Spring festival and performed at the Boston City Hall Music Artist performance stage.
