Mequetrefe saw the first light as a musical project back in 2007 in Santiago de Compostela,Galicia (Spain). Thru the past years, new members joined the band which is currently formed by Xan Molina ( voice, lead guitar, bass ), Santi Rodríguez ( guitar, bass ), Santi Campini ( guitar, bass ), Gerardo G. Pernas ( synths, samplers ) and Marvin B. ( e-drums ).

In 2008 the band recorded two demos for the Alg-a netlabel, reaching the semi-finals on FIB's "Proyecto Demo". They also won the demo contest run by Foc and Sound Festival at Moncofa ( Castellón ) gettin' a record deal with the spanish label Dress for Excess. Before the year was ended, "People Don't Smile" was included in Matchdose, a german indie music compilation.

In 2010 early may, "Play Off" - the band's first album - was released. Produced by José Luis Macías, the album features Florent from the legendary "Los Planetas" playing guitars in the longest track of the record: Bomba Navarro. It was released in double-vinyl format only.

Mequetrefe played at Vigo Transforma Festival amongst bands like The XX, Jeff Tweddy, Devendra Banhart and Orbital in june. Weeks after, the band was selected to open the Peter Hook's date in Valencia.

In "Play Off" the  band tries to find his own language. A sound that's wide open to rock, pop, psychedelic, shoegaze and dub, gently spreading'em thru the entire repertoire. Many references can be found in the band's songbook. Augustus Pablo, Flaming Lips, Sabres of Paradise, Spiritualized or My Bloody Valentine are some of the bricks with which Mequetrefe has built his own musical discourse, where electronic drums, dub delays, blinky brasses and out-of-this-world voices collide in polyphonic harmony.

Artista mindoniense para quien la música es parte esencial de su vida. Comienza a sentirse seducido por la música electrónica escuchando discos de Kraftwerk o Depeche Mode y poco después por la escena eurobeat e italo dance. Así tiene su primera residencia con 16 años en Disco Pub “A Sala” de Mondoñedo, donde mezclará todo tipo de música electrónica y creará las noches temáticas A Sala House Café, que durante varios años impulsarán a otros artistas locales. Compartirá su faceta de dj con la de redactor de portales y revistas electrónicas como Zonadance, valemusic.dj o Freecubb Magazine. Evolucionará con los tiempos a través de toda la vertiente house y se sentirá muy influenciado por el sonido americano y por la forma de entender la música de gente como Larry Levan o Frankye Knuckles. Tras abandonar la residencia de A Sala en 2004, se traslada a Santiago de Compostela donde creael colectivo de dj´s Son EQ y sigue pinchando asiduamente en locales de la ciudad.
Actualmente reside en Ponferrada y pertenece al booking de HCP, participando de forma activa en las noches High Class y pinchando en clubs como Sala Planeta,  La Escandalera, Neo Club o La Vaca Club.
Sus sets son muy dinámicos y variados, con un  esquema musical que gira en torno al deep house más electrónico y al house “old school”.
Actualmente coordina el área de música del magazine Hunger Culture ( www.hungerculture.com).

"We Are Alive!" is a project of two German producers which started to create electronic music in 2009. Since then they produced tracks of very different styles and will continue creating music without sticking to any specific genre.
