Molly in Berlin is Emma Nova Young, a Midwestern Independent Music Award-nominated multi-genre producer, DJ, and sound engineer now based in Philadelphia.

Since 2005, Emma has been DJing, hosting radio shows, and releasing experimental hip-hop and bass music under the names HipGnosis and cnstru, as well as producing, mixing, and mastering for independent artists and record labels around the world. After taking a life-renewing hiatus since 2016, she’s back with an exciting new project, Molly In Berlin. 

Fueled by an intense love of the early hardcore and rave music she grew up with and connecting that to the disparate scenes of today, Molly In Berlin weaves a psychedelic sonic tapestry into mixes and productions, hard to box into any one genre or style, but united by a love of rhythm and motion and energy.

BK’s musical career began behind a drum kit, playing drums for local bands and gigging  regularly around Newcastle through the noughties.    A natural ability for rhythm and reading the beat led him to start spinning vinyl in 2004, starting  out at what was then known as the M­Bar playing breaks.    As Newcastle’s nightlife entered a period of transition,  he launched the monthly Sunday Social event in collaboration with dj  Phil Sure, now an established event on Newcastle’s underground music scene calendar.    BK is inspired by minimal, tech house sounds and influenced by artists such as Dorisburg,  Dyed Soundorum, Andrey Pushkarev and Guy Gerber.    Teaming up with the local Sunday Social and Coloursound crews, bK continues to be a  keen player and passionate advocate for Newcastle’s underground music scene.
