In this compilation there are some of my "alone" songs and collaborations with other artists, in English, in Italian or in Japanese, written and composed from 1990 to today, and also some "works in progress". Never been ended 'til I'll live.

ALONE  (or in twos...)

Trauma was an italian band, borned from the ashes of other bands (Saskatchewan and Crystal Bell) and active from 1990 to 1995. In the beginning, Trauma played covers (Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Clash, Gary Moore...) and original songs in English, written by Marzio Pelù - the vocalist and guitarist - : it was the "Mark I" with Matteo Balloni on drums, Matteo Bernabucci on bass, Marco Catarinolo on keyboards and Marzio Pelù on vocals and guitars. But soon a new musician arrived: Franco Rossi, songwriter and guitarist. Marzio and Franco began to write songs togheter and the "Mark II" was born, with Franco Rossi on lead guitar, in 1992. Franco left the band after few months for a new project, but Trauma continued to play original songs in Italian, written by Marzio Pelù and arranged by the band, and italian covers too (Vasco Rossi, Litfiba, Timoria). And a new lead guitarist arrived: Alberico Baldini. The final mark, the "Mark III", began. In 1993 the band won the "Montignoso Music Festival". In 1995 Trauma  was selected for one of the most important music contest in Italy, "Rock Targato Italia", but the band didn't reach the final. The band broke in the beginning of 1996, but the vocalist and guitarist Marzio Pelù continued and continues to write and compose songs. The classic line up of Trauma was: Alberico Baldini (lead guitar), Matteo Balloni (drums), Matteo Bernabucci (bass), Marco Catarinolo (keyboards) and Marzio Pelù (vocals and guitar),  but in the band - and in its previous versions - also played: Federico Intaglietta (guitar), Franco Rossi (guitar), Gabriel Del Sarto (bass),  Matteo Barsotti (bass), Simone Ricci (bass), Salvatore Corrao (batteria), Paolo Romagnoli (vocals), Michele Balloni (vocals) and Francesco (vocals).

Trauma: questo il nome del gruppo italiano nato dalle ceneri di altre bands (Saskatchewan e Crystal Bell) e attivo dal 1990 al 1995. All'inizio del loro percorso, i Trauma suonano covers (Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Clash, Gary Moore...) e canzoni originali in Inglese scritte da Marzio Pelù (cantante e chitarrista): è il "Mark I", la prima formazione, con Matteo Balloni alla batteria, Matteo Bernabucci al basso, Marco Catarinolo alle tastiere e Marzio Pelù alla voce e alle chitarre. Nel 1993 il gruppo vince il "Montignoso Music Festival" ed inizia un'intensa attività live e in studio. Nel 1995 i Trauma vengono  selezionati per uno dei più importanti contest musicali italiani, "Rock Targato Italia", ma non raggiungono la finale. La band si scioglie all'inizio del 1996, ma il cantante e chitarrista Marzio Pelù continua (tuttora) a scrivere e comporre canzoni. La formazione classica dei Trauma era: Alberico Baldini (chitarra solista), Matteo Balloni (batteria), Matteo Bernabucci (basso), Marco Catarinolo (tastiere) e Marzio Pelù (voce e chitarra), ma nella band - e nelle sue versioni precedenti - hanno suonato anche Federico Intaglietta (chitarra), Franco Rossi (chitarra), Gabriel Del Sarto (basso), Matteo Barsotti (basso), Simone Ricci (basso), Salvatore Corrao (batteria), Paolo Romagnoli (voce), Michele Balloni ( voce) e Francesco (voce).

Words (don't come easy) - acoustic cover with Reins recorded by phone

1985-2022: sadly, the song remains (almost) the same... in this live version of Sting's song, performed at Free Times Cafe in Toronto, Canada, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, I only changed two words in the lyrics: Putin with Kruschev and Biden with Reagan. It's important to say that this song is not against Russians or any other people, but against who decides to make war. No people want war. Never.

I wrote "Misanthropy" in the winter of 2023, in my room in Gotham Court, Toronto. I played it live dozens of times for more than one year and then I decided to record it at Tommy Riot's studio in Kensington Market. I played almost all the instruments: acoustic and electric guitar, bass, and I sang. The drums part is played by Tommy Riot.

Love will tear us apart (Joy Division - cover)

I wrote "Light years" in the winter of 2023: it's a song about distance and separation, and it was born as a duet because the lyrics are a dialogue between two persons "light years" apart. The other voice is Reins, Canadian singer and songwriter, already co-author of my songs "Blue sea" and "Flashback". All the instruments (classical and acoustic guitars, electric guitar, bass and drums) are played by me, except the final drums played by Tommy Riot, recording and mastering engineer.

The sounds you can hear as background in some parts of the song are taken from NASA's recordings across the Solar System: in the intro of the song, you can hear some radio waves that "Cassini" spacecraft collected near Jupiter in January 2001; in the middle of the song, radio waves collected by "Cassini" around Saturn; at the end of the song, after the guitar feedback, there are some radio emissions the another spacecraft, "Galileo", gathered from Jupiter's largest moon: Ganymede.

Also the cover of the song is in tune with its "spacey" atmosphere: an artwork by KinRossArt, an Italian artist based in Toronto, and part of the six-piece series "Galaxia".

This track is the result of assembling the voices and the noises that I recorded at the Belleville market in Paris on 4h August, 2015. I have also inserted in it the beginning of "La vie en rose" by Edith Piaf and some guitar parts. This composition is one of the three pieces of my "Parisian Triptych".

I'm a songwriter, self-taught musician, dj
and journalist (anyhow composin' !)

ALONE ...born in 1970, I began early to play piano, takin' cello lessons too. Then I left, but I reprise to study music when I was sixteen: piano, guitar and bass, mainly self-made. At the same time, I began to compose music: initially electronic and instrumental, then rock songs with lyrics in English, all alone.

THE BIKES. In my first band, The Bikes, torward the end of the '80, I played guitar: we did covers (mainly Pink Floyd and Deep Purple) and we practised in the back of keyboard player's bicycle shop (here the name of the band!) ...then we changed name in Alter Ego and finally, I left the band.

CRYSTAL BELL. In 1990, I reached the band Saskatchewan: I played bass and we did covers (mainly Doors and Rem) in the singer's home garage. Then the singer left and the rest of the band (me, the guitarists Marco Catarinolo and Federico 'Chicco' Intaglietta and the drummer Matteo Balloni) found another band: Crystal Bell. We did covers (Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Clash and Gary Moore) and some of my compositions like "Hurry up!" ...we tried two singers but finally I began to sing, playin' the bass, and Marco Catarinolo left the guitar for the keyboards. We practised in another garage with other bands and we performed some concerts too. Then, after few months, the band broke.

TRAUMA. I continued to play in that garage with the keyboard player and we played - me on guitar and voice, him on keyboards - my new songs: "One life movie's final frame", "Chinese trip" and "Moonish". For a while, the drummer Salvatore 'Toda' Corrao was with us. Then, Matteo Balloni returned and the bassist Gabriel Del Sarto arrived too but he couldn't play often with us, so finally we found another bassist: Matteo Bernabucci (then, the two bassists always alterneted). We decided to call the band Trauma. I wrote new songs, in Italian too ("Verso l'altrove" - "To the other side" in English -  and "Un fuoco e il buio" that is the italian version of "Moonish"), and I began to collaborate with the guitarist and songwriter Franco Rossi: together we wrote "La meta", "L'attimo" and "Cresce la tua idea" and he played lead guitar with us. We recorded all our songs in the  Music Hill Records studio at Ortola, in Massa (Tuscany - Italy). After a while, the band had a new lead guitarist: Alberico 'Chicco' Baldini.  We re-arranged all original songs and we added to our "playlist" italian covers too: Vasco Rossi, Litfiba, Timoria. We began an intense live activity, In 1993, we won the first edition of "Montignoso Music Festival". In the same year, the band recorded a new session in the Music Hill Records studio and after a while recorded the re-arranged original songs at the hotel Villa Mercedes, closed during the winter. The live activity continued and in the beginning of the 1994 I began to project a rock opera for the theatre, "Inseguendo un sogno", composing new songs. Then the band recorded two new songs "Rabbia" and "Inseguendo un sogno" (the main theme of the rock opera) at the Crystal studio in Montignoso (Tuscany - Italy). In '94 and '95 the live activity was very intense and the band was selected for one of the most important music contest in Italy, "Rock Targato Italia".  We re-arranged "Un fuoco a il buio" and I wrote new songs, "Eutanasia" and "Il cielo d'inverno", then we did the last recording session at the Loading Zone Studio in Frangola (Massa - Tuscany - Italy). Finally, the band broke in 1996 except for a reunion for the festival "Rock for Amnesty" at Baraonda (Massa - Tuscany - Italy) in '96.

DJ. As a deejay, I worked in some discos (The Crocodile, Baraonda and The Cave in Tuscany, Italy) and radios (RadioMilano5 and RadioStudioVersilia in Tuscany, Italy) 'til 1996 when I started my career in journalism.

ALONE AGAIN. From 1996 to today, while workin' as journalist, I continued to write songs, instrumental music, atmospheres. And I'll continue!
