This song is about people from my past, from my childhood who are important to me - their belief in me made me who I am today, and they continue to inspire me to this day, even though they may no longer be with me. Like stars, their light illuminate my path forwards. Like stars, they may be gone, long gone from my life, but their influence, their light still plays an important role in my current endeavours. 

I wrote the two halves of the song several months apart; the first half is more melancholic, and the pace only quickens in the latter half (after the 3 minute mark).
