  Nourri par les univers cinématographiques, les rêves ou encore les écrits anciens, MASQAAR compose une musique à la croisée des styles qui ont marqué son enfance. C’est à l’adolescence qu’il apprend le rock et la guitare électrique mais ce n’est que 5 ans plus tard qu’il découvre le puissant potentiel des guitares acoustiques. Elles lui permettent dorénavant de mettre en forme des compositions riches et élaborées. La découverte de la Bossa Nova brésilienne imprégnera son jeu de manière significative. Colorées, élaborées mais pourtant si amères, les mélodies obtenues de ses accordages saugrenus invitent l’auditeur à se perdre dans leurs pensées, à rêver, à imaginer. Bien loin des courants mainstream, il se plait à étudier les discographies complexes d’artistes comme Beck, Damon Albarn ou encore Elbow, et tente lui aussi d’ajouter sa petite pierre à l’édifice.   MASQAAR signe en 2015 son premier EP appelé «  La Spirale du Silence ». A l’époque connu sous le nom de « Von Barron », il travaillait avec une chanteuse appelée Moe qui fût co-auteur et interprète sur tout le projet.   

Inspired by cinematographic universes, dreams and ancient writings, MASQAAR composes music at the crossroads of styles that marked his childhood. During his teenage years he learned rock and electric guitar, but discovered, five years later the powerful potential of acoustic guitars. He then worked hard to shape rich and elaborate compositions. The discovery of the Brazilian Bossa Nova will significantly influenced his playing. Colorful, elaborated but yet so bitter, the melodies achieved through his absurd tunings invite the listener to get lost in their thoughts, to dream, to imagine. Far from mainstream trends, he likes to study the complex discographies of artists like Beck, Damon Albarn or Elbow, and thus tries to contribute to the diversity of the current music scene.  MASQAAR released in 2015 its first EP called "La Spirale du Silence". At the time known as "Von Barron", he worked with a singer called Moe who was co-author and performer on the entire project.

A long time ago in a small town in Somerset a young man called Sam Westaway bought his first guitar. Since that day he was engrossed with making music and couldn't put his guitar down. He learnt to rock out, write songs, he formed bands with his friends, toured the country, recorded CDs and learnt to build the instrument he loved.
