Following his pre-album ALLES ODER NICHTS EP from October, Johannes @klingebiel finally unveils his full new album for Feines Tier, and this time he’s hitting the Bass Drum, la Gran Cassa, die GROSSE TROMMEL! Consisting of a collection of tunes written during the lockdown months, you can feel a sense of longing for the dancefloor in the music. As can be said for most of Johannes’ productions it’s walking the line between being ready for the club and your headphones or kitchen HiFi-system at the same time. Besides the already released EP-tunes some standouts in the tracklist include the title track with its Aphex Twin-esque combination of harsh drum beats and gorgeous melodies, the garage-house-floating beauty SCHWEBEN or the simplistic KLARHEIT with its Kraftwerky minimalism. The soft double-stroke of ACHJA and VIELLEICHT is closing out the record with a melancholic sigh, leaving you thinking „maybe, just maybe it will all work out in the end…

Continuing the theme of this compilation series, VAUS08 (Various Artists Under-Sound) defines our interests and serves as a showcase of unique talents, known and unknown. The music within may be our darkest offering yet, possibly due to the conception of much of it taking place during one of many peaks of human darkness. What we know, at least for us, is that embracing the darkness, not ignoring it, can be extremely liberating and lead us towards light.

Taken from the two sonic explorers’ jam sessions in Berlin, these four tracks delve into subaquatic machinery and synaptic oscillations. Intuitive, time-distorting, mind melting improvisations recorded between 2019 and 2020 in Matthias Kanik's (GATS) studio.

For the first time, these soundwaves have been translated into the physical world in the shape of a limited Cassette (K7) pressing, inaugurating the Curuba Tapes series.

The release also features remixes showcasing the label’s diverse and
adventurous sonic palette : equatorian duo Zoroxxe (Joaquin Cornejo & Quixosis) deconstructs Cristal Sirens’ rhythmical intricacies with an abstract footwork reinterpretation, while Curuba co-founder Ditti twists Steppe into a sensible, playfully psychedelic ketapop version. Label heads Psycho Tropiques mash-up several elements from the EP into Cristal Echoes, a two-tempo leftfield club track inspired by dub floating ambiences & jersey club bounces. Parisian artist and label friend Machka closes the release with a beautiful, harmonically rich trip-hop version of Steppe.
