I started this track back in hard lockdown in 2020, when I first started experimenting with recording my own vocals. What started off as a remix, quickly turned into an original track with the chorus done, allowing all sorts of creativity into the process of making it 🥇 the main bassline is inspired heavily by the well-known South African DJ and producer, Chunda Munki, and I really hope this energetic, yet dirty bass, track can do well across all platforms. Domino Effect Records are proud to present the first EP of 2015, in the form of Deep Matter's, Hornets EP. A good few months in the making and were finally happy to release the pack which includes remixes from MidnightMachiine, Dub.C & SecondSelf, MRJ, Cheap Picasso & Evasiv. This particular release offers the full package catering for House, Tech-House, Deep House and still finds the room to bring elements of the trademark Domino fire you've come to love! The two originals 'Hornets' & 'Payback' provoke serious movement on the floor, wonderfully arranged and polished perfectly.

MidnightMachiine were scouted in Africa after the international tour took the Domino team overseas to perform at the all mighty Gloom Festival in Maputo, Mozambique. Now the South African duo have hit the ground running with their infectious and devastating remix of Hornets, carrying similar elements of Kyle Watson we know this will do damage! Up next is the Dub. C & SecondSelf Rework, a full throttle festival workout, where the boys have created a pumping re-edit fit for any peaktime mayhem, third on the Hornets remix package is MRJ, after hearing his work with Golf Clap's Country Club Disco, we had to invite him in on the project and see what he had to offer, and if you enjoy the upbeat energy he is consistently crafting then this is one to check out.. Also on the remix are Cheap Picasso, the Edinburgh based duo have crafted an elegant new take on the energetic original, delving deeper into the mind with winding pads and eery yet beautiful effects. A journey in its own right, and very welcome indeed! Finally Evasiv, one of our homegrown Leeds talents, once again gives 'Hornets' a whole new perspective as his remix builds and builds in all the right places and provides an intense Tech-House big room makeover to finish..

Voices In My Head (Original Mix)

For our 23rd release, we turn to South African based artists, Weston & Engine to show us a taste of the local underground that’s been emerging in the past few months for their debut Ambious Records release. Keeping true to their sound, they have delivered nothing short of a groovy, elemental mix of deep and hypnotic flavored House Music, that we’re excited to bring forward to showcase a bit of what these boys have been up to.

The first track off the EP, ‘Dream Interpretations’, remains true to its name. Ethereal dub chords flow over a groove-based low end that is reminiscent of what a dancefloor in our dreams might sound like. 

The second track, ‘Self Communication’ sets the tone with a melancholic piano progression that moves through the beat and leads the way for the strings and bass to add texture and weight to the tension and mood. 

Next up, we have, ‘Above or Below the Centre’ produced alongside local DJ and producer Guy Herman. Setting the pace for the rest of the EP, the organic layers back up the movement of the melody and move into an open landscape that is sure to get any dancefloor grooving with its undeniable atmosphere.

And lastly, ‘Not The Ending’ rounds off the EP perfectly, with a nostalgic piano melody and an arpeggiated lead that keeps things moving until the very end. With subtle chords and pad’s moving throughout, a perfect final track to a well-rounded EP to help close things off in a style that these boys have become known for.
