Being on a music residency at La Guarimba this September in southern Italy with four Ukrainian musicians, I suddenly felt how absurd the world is. Our country is in its third year of war, sustainability is nothing more than a marketing strategy for most, and there are still too many people who consciously support dictatorships. Yet, the privileged majority continues to ignore this reality. This breakbeat hyperpop song is a product of that absurdity and the devastating ability to ignore the truth.

I Stretch My Extremities Beyond Their Breaking Point

Hunters is a dark, atmospheric single about a fictional folk community that believes peace can only be maintained by abstaining from violence — refusing to “hunt” in hopes that no one will come to harm them. Yet pacifism does not guarantee safety: external hunters arrive regardless, bringing conflict to a world that has tried to remain pure and untouched.

The single is part of Axxi Oma’s upcoming EP Tea of Aman, set for release in August 2025. Both the track and the EP were created during a residency at the La Guarimba Music Camp in Amantea, a town in Southern Italy known for its unique blend of Calabrian traditions and otherworldly cultural atmosphere.

The song opens Axxi Oma’s debut EP Planets and Gods. It was written during an art residency in Amantea, Italy, and is deeply connected to the Calabrian region, where a legend says the surrounding sea is filled with mermaids. The artist continues this story through a metamorphosis from human to mermaid, where the protagonist spends an eternity in the sea.

As some of you know, I recently put my label, ОЧІ https://soundcloud.com/ochi_ua , on hiatus — a decision that opened up a new, unknown path for me.
I started listening to music I hadn’t touched before…
This mix is not only a reflection of the past 5 months of intense listening and curating — it’s also a statement of what’s coming next.
With this release, I’m setting the tone for my future EBM/cold wave band - a sound built around post-punk, dark pop, synth wave, electroclash, synth pop, new beat.
