Anyma, a radical new multidisciplinary digital project from Tale Of Us innovator Matteo Milleri, arrives on Afterlife.

Matteo’s achievements with Tale Of Us need little introduction. Soaring to the highest heights of success, he is now exploring the realm of the metaverse with his hybrid persona, Anyma. The Sentient EP* signals the arrival of this integrative algorithmic consciousness. The title track holds true to the label’s progressive sound, with a percolating low end, emotive synth stabs and moments of deep contemplation. ‘Reminding’ features the wistful vocals of Rosa Anschütz, complemented by the propulsive energy of its bassline and urgent programming. A soaring breakdown takes us into the electrifying second half. ‘Fragments’ takes a more pensive stance, evoking melancholy melodies and deeply sombre tones, encouraging the listener to journey inward. Finally, ‘Omnia’ has that classic Afterlife sound, while offering a glimpse of our technology-driven future. It’s ominous, dark, seductive and designed to transport you into unexplored digital terrain.

Anyma - Sentient

After showcasing his first work on the label for the Odd Echoes series, Losless returns with his debut EP ¨Second Life¨.

Opening the EP, the track ¨Away¨ already captures the attention with its rolling deep groove, quirky sounds and catchy melodies. The slow build up keeps the tension going through the track, and it’s released on the drop, where the more melodic pads and chords come in, and returns with a powerful bass triad synth stab.

Next it follows ¨Overthrow¨ a similar deep, melodic groovy cut, but with a haunting female vocal that follows on the track. You can listen to Losless mastering the craft of his productions with all the details along his music, that showcases his stamp.

Going deeper in the EP, we encounter the more melodic and emotional cuts. The melancholic pads and synths of ¨Isometric Past¨ takes you into a beautiful trip, while maintaining the energetic mood. 

Last but not least two versions of ¨Second Life¨ where the original version focuses on breaks, melodies and subtle voices fx. For the remix duties, Mark Hoffen, approaches his version on a more 4x4 take, full of energy and writing some beautiful chords and pads, that take this cut into another spectrum.

2015 will see German techno mainstay Stephan Bodzin ready to unleash his next full-length musical vision on the world. Entitled “Powers of Ten”, the 10-track album will land in June 2015 on his own Herzblut Recordings and provides another great insight into the melodically rich muscle mind of this modern great.
Says Stephan Bodzin of the LP: “Powers of Ten has been with me all my life and is named after a book that has been my background hiss, its confusing truth is my only real faith and its infinity shows me its finiteness. The album is about harmonies, melodies, rhythms. It is an homage to Bob Moog, full of techno beats and sounds and space and party and ecstasy and dancing and listening, and crying and feeling. It is a journey, a philosophy of life, a view of the world, a vague perception. It is my wife, my children, my family, my friends, my passion, my enemy, my greatest fulfillment, my fear, my deepest peace, my power, all my love.”
As such, this album is hugely personal and is filled with cerebral messages and well thought out concepts. All this shines through and makes it an all the more engaging listen from start to finish. Kicking off with the spine tingling chords and louche beats of ‘Singularity’ cuts like ‘Lila’ then continue to confirm that Stephan Bodzin has a classical understanding of melody that is way beyond your average.
‘Blue Giant’, ‘Wir’ and ‘Ix’ all manage to be uplifting and thoughtful at the same time as driven and groovy, whilst ‘Birth’ comes on with a hymnal high note, long tailed pads and subtly shifting beats. The ghostly grooves of ‘Zulu’ mark a majestic mid point to the album, which then continues to seduce with spiritual synths and more beautiful melodies on cuts like ‘Odyssee’ as well as the album’s standout title track.
Unfolding coherently and in soothing fashion, this album once again proves that few producers in the modern world have a knack for melody and an ear for sonic ingenuity quite like Stephan Bodzin.

As the dust finally begins to settle after the release of Pan-Pot's massive album 'The Other', it's time to unleash a collection of heavy hitting reworks from the best and brightest stars of todays techno elite. Through careful consideration and an acute attention to detail, we couldn't be more elated to confirm ten artists we know and love to contribute their unique vision to Second State's first ever remix package.

Kicking things off with a heavily twisted alteration of 'Attention' is Nicole Moudaber and it's a tangled, dark trek through dense acoustic layers of audible madness. Next up is the Hamburg duo

Extrawelt with their twist on 'Optimistic Grey' and they deliver a beautiful blend of emotion and groove they are synonymous for.

Following suit is another passionately romantic number from man of the hour, Stephan Bodzin, and his take feels like floating through a sea of clouds, resulting in a timeless classic to be a focal point in any set for years to come.

Next in line is Ray Kajioka's take on '808 Nirvana' and it's a cosmic ride, ripe with swirling atmospherics laid over big churning drums and rolling cymbals.

Following up on the second 12“ of this LP is a man who needs no introduction: Carl Cox. And in true Coxy fashion he turns 'Riot' into just that: a big room, tension building monster!

Broken Engine' is the next track to get worked over and Wigbert delivers a stunning mix of shimmering tones and growling bass resulting in a lush venture through a cosmic backdrop of flickering stars in deep space.

Joseph Capriati ensues with his vision of 'Fugitives' and he brilliantly keeps the vibe of the original yet adds his trademark big room flair to take it to another level of driving euphoria.

Enlisting the talents of Alan Fitzpatrick to remix one of the slower listening tracks on the album turned out to be magic. With his signature percussion, Fitzpatrick takes the parts and creates a dive deep into sultry smooth waters of seduction.

The first of our last two remixes, which are digital exclusives, come from Paul Ritch and he delivers a grinding rendition of 'Riot', expertly crafted for the more euphoric peak time occasions.

Last and certainly not least is a man on the rise, Kevin Knapp with his twist on his own collaboration with Pan-Pot: 'Get In'. An expertly crafted tech house jam exploding with energy and attitude perfect for any moment, day or night, indoors or out.

No matter the time or place, there is something here for everyone and we are truly fulfilled and honored to present this package of cutting edge artists to celebrate this landmark moment. We know you will enjoy!

Tale Of Us present a new collaboration with Vaal for the sixth release on their Afterlife label. Three years after they teamed up for ‘Concur’ and began to tour together, the trio return with their most anthemic offering yet. Vaal’s hauntingly-beautiful and instantly-recognisable vocals are the centre-piece on ‘Monument’, building on the style of her Wander To Hell EP (AL002). The drums and shimmering synth lines are moody and uplifting in the way Tale Of Us have made their own, arranged perfectly for the psychedelic breakthrough.

On the flip side, ‘The Hangar’ takes a different approach to equally devastating effect. It pumps with added urgency and a thunderous, steely bassline lunges out from the low-end. Designed for large soundsystems and big rooms, ‘The Hangar’ finds Tale Of Us and Vaal at their most direct and it’s something to behold.

Barnt and Stephan Bodzin, two artists whose stand-out performances at recent Afterlife events have made them firm favourites with the crowds, are tapped for the remixes (AL007). They both take on ‘Monument’, Barnt opting for a rolling, percussive direction and Bodzin more ethereal and transportive.

Mathame’s highly-anticipated ‘Nothing Around Us’ arrives on Afterlife Recordings this September 7th.
The richly talented duo Mathame featured on the second Realm Of Consciousness compilation and have since been regulars in the sets of Tale Of Us with some sought-after, unreleased tracks. Their distinctive treatment of vocals marks their tracks out instantly, nowhere more so than on ‘Nothing Around Us’, with the cyber voice of the young Italian artist Lyke. The top quality production and original sound continue with the more understated ‘22’ and end with another prime example of Mathame’s vocal work, ‘Fade Into You’. This EP is a bold statement that crystallises the well-deserved excitement around Mathame.

Mind Against are back on Afterlife with two emotive, dancefloor masterpieces. ‘Walking Away’, featuring the deeply-affecting vocals of Port St. Willow, centers around uplifting harmonic elements and a resonant drum pattern. It strikes that special balance of light and dark which makes Mind Against’s tracks uniquely cathartic. ‘Bloom’ is more a melancholy, downtempo interpretation of their vision. The percussion is restrained and sits deep below atmospheric pads and piano chords, eventually arriving at a gradual and subtle peak.
