C'est avec des cervoises bien fraîches que nous avons accueilli le réalisateur Fabrice Joubert et le compositeur Mathieu Alvado pour évoquer avec eux la mini-série animée Astérix et Obélix : Le Combat des Chefs, qui débute aujourd'hui sur Netflix. Une réussite à la française qui bénéficie aussi de la potion magique de son co-réalisateur, Alain Chabat, et d'une musique « à l'antique » propre à réjouir les oreilles de tous les Gaulois !

Astérix & Obélix – Chapitre #2

This is a somewhat rare recording of "Marine" from 1997. It was recorded for the semi-finalist stage of Masterprize by the BBC Philharmonic under Philip Ellis for the European Broadcasting Union and Radio 3.  The result is both wonderfully impressionist and incredibly sincere (despite adhering to my original tempi markings), yet this version never got a look-in. That was a real pity. This was due to the version by the LSO / Harding being so prevalent. The LSO version, with the somewhat slower, overly-sentimental interpretation, appeared on the EMI Debut Series which was released in 1998 and, very disappointingly, the LSO recording was the very same one which was given away for "free" on the cover-mount CD of the BBC Music Magazine in 1997 [MM67].  So the BBC "impressionist" version was completely lost and eclipsed by the LSO/ EMI recording - which was effectively released twice, but this was not made clear to anyone. (Not my fault!) Programme Note: 
Marine - à travers les arbres was inspired by a trip to Moulin Huet Bay on Guernsey as well as two of Renoir's impressionist paintings of the same bay from the year 1883. Portions of these two titles, 'Baie du Moulin Huet à travers les arbres' and 'Marine à Guernsey', were combined to produce "Marine - à travers les arbres" which roughly translates as "Marine - through the trees".  This amazingly nautical interpretation is my personal favourite. It was also the first recording that I heard.

Back To The Moon

C'est la rentrée et on en est déjà à la 6ème partie de cette saga sur la Fantasy. Mais on arrive enfin aux Seigneur des Anneaux ! Après Harry Potter, Rafik Djoumi et Olivier Desbrosses de Underscore.fr ont beaucoup de choses à raconter sur la trilogie de Peter Jackson et la musique d'Howard Shore. Mais il reste encore de nombreux films à traiter avant de notre panorama de la musique de film de Fantasy.

C'est la passion qui anime Rafik Djoumi, Olivier Desbrosses et Misteur D pour allez jusqu'au bout de cette saga sur la Fantasy. On n'aurait jamais imaginé que ce genre était aussi pléthorique mais force est de constater qu'on a du mal à laisser de côté de nombreux films... Prelude To The Epic Games (for Kobe)

I studied music at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. (CNSMDP) where I earned 3 prizes  (harmony, counterpoint and fugue), at the Bordeaux Conservatory (6 first prizes in harmony, counterpoint, saxophone, musical theory, chamber music and deciphering) and at the Saint Maur des Fossés Conservatory (harmony, orchestration and conducting).
 
I’ve composed more than 60 short movies soundtracks, orchestrated music for Pierre Adenot (Beauty and the Beast), orchestrated and conducted music for Guillaume Roussel (It boy, HhHH, 3 days to kill, Outcast, La French) and Erwann Kermorvant (The Clearstream affair, Braquo third season), and arranged musics for Christophe Héral (The Adventures of Tintin, the video game, Rayman Origins, Rayman Legends).
 
In 2012, I had the great honor to receive 3 Jerry Goldsmith Awards (best composer, best music in short-live action and best song) for the score of « L’Attaque du monstre géant suceur de cerveaux de l’espace ».
 
Over the years I had the great pleasure to conduct the London Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Paris Symphonic Orchestra, the Paris Scoring Orchestra,  the Star Pop Orchestra and smaller bands for intimate musics.
