I'm a composer, conductor, and professor.  I teach at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA.

Hi-Phi Nation is a philosophy podcast that turns stories into ideas. We begin with a story, from ordinary life, law, science, or culture, and then transform it into an examination of philosophical ideas.

DJ Matoi used to run the monthly Basscultural sound crèche at Vaaghuyzen in Amsterdam with his brother in blood and music DJ Kreits. He then moved to Hong Kong for a PhD in experimental psychology but continued spinning (now solo) a version of the brothers' Boogiewonderblend of music as a weekly resident at Soiree.

When Matoi moved to Philadelphia, USA for a post-doc in translational neuroscience and neurorehabilitation, his DJ career came to a screeching halt, as he found no room for it in his busy science schedule.

Now, many years later, Matoi is a tenured professor at a SLAC in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He still dreams about the wheels of steel with some regularity.

Who knows what the future will bring...
