Its been more than six months since I’ve had the last chance to play some music in front of a crowd. I tried to put all of my hope, my love & dedication as well as my anger into this DJ mix. This journey reflects what I would be playing in the morning hours at a club such as KaterBlau and some melancholic-melodic moments to just make you fly away. Sie stehen dicht an dicht gedrängt. Die behelmten Köpfe zusammengesteckt, der Blick geht stur geradeaus. Sie verbreiten ein Klima der Angst und des Unwohlseins. Dann trifft Verstärkung ein. Aus einem Kastenwagen gesellen sich weitere vermummte Gestalten der Runde hinzu. Dort stehen sie und warten. Sie warten auf weitere Instruktionen und Befehle. Diese lassen auch nicht lange auf sich warten. Der uniformierte Pulk löst und verteilt sich. Durch ein Megaphon ertönt ein blecherne, leicht verzerrte Stimme. Alle Anwesenden werden aufgefordert die Örtlichkeit zu verlassen, bei Zuwiderhandlungen werden weitere Maßnahmen angedroht. Unruhe macht sich breit. Warum jetzt alle gehen sollen, weiß keiner so wirklich. Plötzlich kommt Bewegung in die Menschenmenge. Rufe werden laut. Sie haben Hunde dabei! Hastig nimmt alles und jeder die Beine in die Hand und drängt in Richtung Ausgang. Die Menschen wirken wütend, verstört und vor allem verängstigt. Keiner der hier Anwesenden möchte gehen, aber auf eine Konfrontation hat auch niemand Lust. Also beugt man sich der höheren Gewalt, dass ungute Gefühl jedoch bleibt. 

Der KataHaifisch Podcast 211 ist eine kreative Kreation von anima. Anima ist ein DJ aus dem Raum Leipzig und Bestandteil des hiesigen Kollektivs ɔstˈɛnd.

This year's free/renegade burn unfolded itself most unexpectedly. 
14 days before the burn, I received an invite from Amsterdam to support a friend's art project with my music. Everything which followed felt like a streak of kind gestures from the universe. 

This art project by Studio Drift brought two hundred drones to the playa to fly a series of magical art pieces in the black rock city sky.  

A tribute for all hearts who have burned in this place. ⁣⁣⁣A gift for the burning man culture and an homage to previous artists who united this beautiful community.  ⁣

To everyone who made this trip and experience possible, thank you. I have no words. The same goes for all those who came to listen. 

All the beautiful burners who showered me with love, support, food, and gifts all week, realize you are part of this recording. 

I am sending my endless love to the Studio Drift  & Robot Heart families for this opportunity to co-create. Without words of how you gift in such a selfless manner. ⁣⁣

This was me in flow on Saturday morning before the sun came out and Diplo took over. I loved this moment in time. I wish you all a beautiful journey, and I look forward to many dusty camping adventures with most of you.

Progressive Astronaut Podcast 036 || Nick Muir

Today we travel around the world – Dutch producer El Mundo prepared a phenomenal Macuá for you, the Nicaraguan national drink that is named after a tropical bird. 

DJing and producing for more than 13 years, El Mundo’s music goes through the ears straight into the heart. He first got on international radars as one half of the duo with Satori, also producer and DJ also from the Netherlands.  

In 2012 El Mundo took the solo path again which led him to deeper and more mature sounds. Today he looks back on releases on imprints like Bondage Music, Get Physical, Underyourskin Records, Heinz Music and is touring around the world. 
 
As a philosophical and spiritual individual, El Mundo sees music and dancing as something worldly. He feels connected to every individual on this planet, so does he love music from all over the world. That’s why he calls himself „El Mundo“.  

If you feel the tingles when listening to his Macuá, you’ll know what he means by „connection“. We totally feel you Pim, thank you!

Macuá | El Mundo

Wow, what a day! Katrinka serves us the perfect hot weather spirit with a delicious Black Magic cocktail. Deep, hypnotic and subtle grooves to start off this week. 

Originally from Russia, KatrinKa is based in London. She’s a classically-trained pianist and began to produce in 2008, releasing her debut EP on Swedish label Spirit Soul Records in 2013. In 2013 she won a contest for producers organised by the Berlin-based label Steyoyoke. And in 2015, KatrinKa signed to London-based Chapter 24 Records.  

Her signature is deep, emotive, enticing and melodic grooves. As one of Chapter 24's core artists, KatrinKa is a resident at their regular label parties and a contributor to their ever-popular 'Telling Tales' series of mixes. 

While we heard several tunes of her already on this podcast, it won't be long before we see KatrinKa performing her tracks around the world. And we are looking forward to this!

A perfect example of something that is delicious because it is sweet, bitter and sour at the same time is today’s fantastic cocktail by Fejká. His smooth creation for Schirmchendrink is a very desirable sip, and the light sugary melodies but sour and sometimes bitterish melancholy is a flavor that is absolutely lovable!

Based in Stuttgart, Brian Zajak, aka Fejká, began his musical career at the age of 17. Torn between the atmospheric vibe and the calm of ambient music, as well as the state of absolute ecstasy that provokes the powerful beat of techno, Fejká couldn’t decide which direction his music production would take. Thus, he decided to experiment with both.

Drawn to artists such as Christian Löffler, HVOB and Kiasmos, the appeal of his style lies in its varied influences, and ability to harness the best of two contrasting genres. It was Christian Löffler himself who approached him, leading to his Debut EP "Twilight" which was released 2017 on Löffler’s Label Ki Records. 

His highly anticipated Debut Album "Reunion" has just been released, also on Ki Records. It is a hugely expansive record that frequently shifts gears between driving rhythms and endless soundscape. Fejká developed a sound with a rich sense of song-craft & melody alongside his ambient deep-house foundations, and we’re happy to hear one of his album tracks in this mix.

We’re honored having another outstanding artist behind the Schirmchendrink bar counter today: Roy Rosenfeld is mixing his Vodka Soda with a lot of punch: it comes with fresh Lime, sparkling melodies and that mellow but always driving “Roy Rosenfeld groove”:  

Roy is currently residing in Tel-Aviv, the capital of Israeli electronic music, but born and raised in the magical streets of Jerusalem.

A key milestone in his career was a beautiful track name Epika, a co-production together with Guy Mantzur – and it turned out to be one of 2015 biggest anthems.  The success of his signature sound brought him not only on the Schirmchendrink radars, no, but on the release schedule of the crème de la crème of records labels: Guy J’s Lost & Found, Marc Romboy’s Systematic Records, Michael Mayer’s KOPAKT as well as the mighty All Day I Dream – just to name a few. 

In 2019 his career got another epic boost: Apart from returning to All Day I Dream with his Rumbala EP, Roy released what is considered to be one of the greatest anthems of last year, ‘The Biggest Heart’, published on TRYBESof. In addition Roy has released another EP, this time on Sébastien Léger’s new label “Lost Miracle” that includes the A-side ‘Hypnosa De La Rosa’. The B-side ‘Creme’, is his first ever collaboration track with the French maestro. 

2020 seems to continue in the same pace: his upcoming release on Guy Gerber’s Rumors label is opening up with a track that has enormous anthem potential: a hypnotic house track called „no drama“  - but with a lot of drama actually: loose grooves, an exotic and tropical feel, underlined by Roy’s signature bubbly drums. Wow – what a bomb release – we look forward dancing to this throughout the season!

There is always a sign of hope or a positive aspect in an otherwise negative situation. In the past few months, when we were all apart, music brought us together like nothing else would in these circumstances. We decided to show our appreciation and continue this unity through our new podcast series called "The Bright Side"

With every one of his sets, @joep-mencke transports sweeps us away to an experience in the past, allowing our minds to revisit a deep memory that we may not have thought about in quite some time. 

A resident of @klassifiedrecods, and having released on great labels such as @happycamperrecords, Joep is inspired by exotic cultures and nature and his music can be described as melodious, deep and spiritual.
